Does a Z4 need a hard top fitting kit

The Z3 needs a fitting kit - does the same apply for the Z4 or does it just go straight on ?

Appreciate any advice anyone can supply.

Hello,

Didn't use the OEM pads - the sensor by itself is £6 ish from GSF or £11 from BMW.

I was tearing my hair out until I found this - Thanks

Replaced my front discs and pads recently. Brembo Ventilated discs were a reasonable £60 a pair at German, Sweedish and French. Easy as pie to fit - but the light did not go out even though I had fitted a new wear sensor and the rears were fine. Much head scratching until I found this on the forum -...

My facelift Z3 had the HRW switch wiring there and as a previous reply noted it's a tight squeeze to get the HRW switch connected. Cars without a power hood appear to have the connector tucked way way back giving 4 options :- 1. Leave the HRW disconnected - I did that the first year and it's still b...

You'll be able to transport the hard top on the car by just using the front bolts that go into the screen header as long as you take it easy. I drove mine 25 miles with no problems it just rattles a bit - the header is strong enough as it's roll over protection. The back brackets are easily made up ...

Made my own fitting kit - this is the second year I've used it and no problems at all.

If you get the car let me know and I'll tell you how to do it.

Cost approx £4.90

Problem with BMW's is that someone has to pay for the pristine showroom and clean workshops - but it's something that's not just confined to a BMW. Get your leg lifted just as far in a Honda dealer in my previous experience and I bet every other franchise has a similar tale to tell. Upmarket image c...

Hello - I'd go for the newest one/lowest mileage one you have the choice of as they will both be very similar to drive. Service history with low mileage and as new as possible was important to me for when I come to sell - everyone prefers lowish mileage especially as the Z3 is getting older. If you ...

My advice would be that if you want to know what service is due next you need to investigate the history of your car with the dealer / BMW GB. The service lights are so easily fiddled with they are worse than usless to anyone that has not had a personal history or documentation to back up what has b...

I've topped my 2.2 twice - in about 12,000 miles so your consumption looks about the same as mine.

I was abit concerned at first (as I've had Jap cars previously and they used nothing) but speaking to other BMW owners it seems quite normal.

No damage probable - up to 40/50 mph is practicable with only the front bolts in place. I've driven 30+ miles on a twisty country road with only the front bolts in place to transport a hard top home - no problems. Speed humps need to take care with though, I agree - but I do that anyway. Needing the...

Hello,

You don't actually need the fitting kit fitted to transport the hard top.

The hard top will go on without it and you can secure the top with just the front bolts as long as you take it steady.

I had a 1900cc and it did around 31mpg - it was the 140 bhp engine,

Swapped it for a 2200cc (170bhp) and with the same driving fuel consumption improved slightly to around 34 mpg.

I put it down to less gear changing with the 6 cylinder engine.

Got a 2200cc Z3. I've done 10,000 miles in 8 months, it looks like I might get 12,000 if I'm lucky for the five green lights and a period on amber. My alarm is also playing up - looked at my bonnet switch and it was quite dirty and sticking a bit. The switch seems to be plastic and has more than one wire going to it so it does not look like a simple "to earth" swich Gave mine a good clean and squirt with WD40 and see how it goes ........
