Thanks for the reply. I had a 1993 RS2000, bought in 94 for just under £10k, sold in 97 for £5.5k wish I'd kept it as they are also now quite a sort after car.

Yes, my traction light was coming on with the mixed tyres when taking bends at even quite modest speeds. Does not come on now unless I really boot it. :)

I've been told that some z3s are starting to gain in value, but not others. The more powerful the car the more sort after it is and the more likely that its value will rise. The z3m is well sort after and anyone who wants one will have to pay a fair amount of cash for a car the could be over 15 year...

No the fronts and rears are different size wheels and hence have different size tyres.

Fronts are 225, rears 245

Yes it seemed to, maybe I should look at putting hancocks on the front too.

No. Just changed the rears as the fronts have loads of tread left.

Continentals on the front, hancocks on the rear. Could that be a bad mix?

Another change of plan.

Removing front speakers

What method did you use to access the Front speakers? Which pieces of the interior have to be removed to gain access to the speakers in the foot wells?

Thanks for all the advice guys, but I’ve given up. Well not quite. I’m going to buy some new speakers and have them fitted by a pro.

I’ve picked up on this forum that they are 5.5 inch or 13cm speakers. Any other type description that I need to know before buying?

Well I cut the blue lead on the Sony to ISO connecter. This is the one that I believed was the antenna connection from the HU. I replaced this by connecting the spare “AMP REM” wire from the HU to the loom. Reconnected everything and tried out the Radio. No difference. The front speakers still did n...

I was not keen on cutting any wire on the BMW loom for obvious reasons so I’ve taken your advice and traced the white wire on the loom back to the head unit and there is a connection. The white wire on the loom connects to the blue wire on the BMW to ISO connector which is marked as “Antenna remote”...

Thanks for the reply.

Just to confirm. Do I need to cut the white wire from the BMW loom? Where it would join the standard BMW radio connector? I then nee to attached this to the amp remote wire (Blue/white) that comes from the back of the Sony to ISO connector?

Was the other half of the bullet you connect the blue wire to inside the actual loom? I.e. not on the BMW to ISO connecter but on the wiring before that within the car itself?

Cheers guys, ill check out the wheel specialist and get them to gove me a quuote. My Z3 has split rims so they might be a little expensive to have repaired. If i get a better deal for more more than one wheel i might get the 17 inchers on my 318 done as well.

you will need to go much higher than 30 with those tyres. I would suggest it will be something more like 35 for the fronts and 38 at the rear. Ultra low profile tyres need to be kept at high pressure. I bet your fuel consumptions is awful.

I have 17s on my Z3, they came as standard.

the fronts have 17/225/45

the rears have 17/255/40

have a look on ebay there are some good copy alloys to be had with tyres for less than £500 a set.
