I saw that edition of Fifth Gear and they tried to regain original power output from an older car. Everything tried was then tested on a rolling road to determine power at the wheels. Always glad to be of assistance, swapped my Z3 for a Z4 3.0Si
so I can only recommend not buy . The 4 is better in many ways
but lacks the retro charm of the 3 and my wife preferred the 3.

Not too difficult a job but 30 to 40 minutes (and sore fingers ) is how long it takes to sand the replacement bushes to fit.

I bought my Z3 rack with the matching case on ebay a few years ago for £10.60
although it cost £50 to buy the blanking bolts from Coopers for when it's out of use.
I now appreciate what a bargain I had.

I've had the £40 set in burr walnut finish for 4 years and
it hasn't shrunk or lifted and it fits exactly as it should.
I cleaned the areas to fit thoroughly with surgical spirit
before hand perhaps that's why it hasn't lifted.

I bought some M Sport styled pedals for my auto on ebay and the finish is excellent. :D Most of the pedals like mine also offer footrests separately I haven't bought one cause I couldn't see how to fit it parallel to the pedals. :dunce: If any one can tell me how to fit it I'll be back on ebay like ...

If you have the matching BMW Z3 suitcase (I have) the rack
MUST be fitted with the raised part furthest from the rear

If you think Aceman is expensive try looking elswhere, his prices are a real bargain.
I changed my bushes (from Aceman) several years ago, makes a BIG improvement.
But boy were my fingers sore from sanding them to fit.

Your chrome roll hoops are after market not OEM
so the BMW wind deflector will not fit properly if at all

There's a guy on ebay sells his own fitting kits and hardtops and he is in your neck of the woods.
He will fit them for you as well, got to be worth a look.

There are plenty of 2003/4 Z4s going for that sort of money.

I had the same problem it's the solenoid that's failed .
I managed to get one from a breaker for £15 and got my local
bodyshop to fit it. A new solenoid from a stealer is over £50 again plus
fitting.

I've just researched my 1998 2.8 and it's listed as having a "differential lock 25%"
is that a limited slip diff or something else
It also says I have "hardtop-preparation" but sadly there is no hardtop

Adverse comments about France are ridiculous from driving enthusiasts.
The roads are so much better than most in the UK and emptier, it's a great place
to drive. Meeting Gendarmes down the quiet country roads is very unlikely so avoid
main roads especially near towns.

I,ve had this problem, turned out to be a small stone had got between the disc and back plate.
Clue was the resurfacing of a nearby road where they had been over generous with the chippings
