Re: Should both door buttons work?
Hi Ian, good question, it was June/July issue of Straight Six 2011, I try and keep the 'special' editions such as this, so may have it.
It was an earlier car, so at least 2 of these RHD exists in the UK.

Re: Should both door buttons work?
the original owner, before any miles were on the clock, gave it to Griffin Motorsport who did various mods to the engine but also changed it over to right-hand drive - which is great for driving in the UK. The Griffin Motorsport RHD is very rare and unique, from memory 6 were converted for the UK a...

Don't forget both undertrays need removing.....which means wheels off. If you have access to a ramp use it, much easier, or try and get all 4 wheels off the ground. I followed a similar E30 guide recently to change PS fluid and all auxiliary belts, but some steps are different its not 100% identical...

If it occurs during light rain and wipers dont cure it, check the motor and wiper mechanism from under the scuttle, they may need cleaning and lubricating the parts.

Cleaning to begin with, that area behind the cover gets clogged. Also check the rear quarter panel is not cracked above the button and impeding movement.

I bought a spare drive belt 3 years ago which had a 2010 date stamp on the box, fitting a 10 year plus rubber component is a false economy when you go to the trouble and expense of stripping down the doors. A number a rubber cam belts are now available with kevlar reinforcement for longevity. You s...

Turns over fine, so I’m assuming it’s either a lack of fuel getting to the engine or a lack of spark. Didn’t have time to look into it, but I did notice that when the key goes from position 1 to position 2 there are 2 clicks in quick succession. Could these be relays / solenoids for the fuel pump /...

I agree with Stoertie, a replacement is inkeeping with your car and providing your ultra careful when fitting, there is little to no pressure on the flap when vertical so should last another 20years.
I am onto my 3rd, broke the new replacement when fitting.

I didn't think the Z1 was ever issued with side indicators by TUEV in 1980s Germany, most UK owners use the E30 as a guide when positioning. Mr Kossyk?
Using the front lights as your source is much easier given the shorter distance, easy access and its just 2 wires.

Well spotted gents, must get that sorted. Once the panel is off, check for dirt or warping and clean thoroughly, if necessary light sanding. Suggest insuring for 12, retaining any NCBs that apply to full term policies, then switch to 'laid up' cover for the months you don't plan to drive, ensuring your car is still protected whilst offroad.
