Re: Air Conditioning Servicing.
Nice to hear that cruise control can be retro-fitted relatively easily and cheaply. I've never had it, but like the idea for the odd long journey when I'm "forced" to use the motorway :( Back on topic, I totally agree aircon is invaluable even in a convertible and since having it in my las...

Re: DSC Woes Fixed (Hopfully)
BTW, I cleaned the toothed rotors by wrapping a bit of cloth around a screwdriver, squirting the end with a load of brake cleaner, poking it through the sensor hole until it hit the rotor and then spinning the hub. It looked quite shiny in there afterwards!

Re: DSC Woes Fixed (Hopfully)
Will try to get fronts out and clean then take for a long drive before doing the wishbones, Dsc light is fixed on and the button to switch on and off makes no difference to it so concluding it must be a problem. Can anyone tell me How robust are the sensors?, got the securing bolts out okay but tri...

Re: What are my options re diagnostics?
As Robert T said, I'd also be surprised (actually very interested!) if he managed to reset the ABS/ASC lights via the OBDII port. You mention ASC, so I assume you have a pre-DSC car. I have an ABS/DSC module on my 06/2000 car and you need an ADS interface (round 20 pin socket under bonnet and serial...

Re: Advanced Search - HELP!!!
Brian/Robert, Thanks very much, both very useful links. I always try and search for answers before posting a question and I thought I must be doing something a bit daft when I couldn't search for a complete phrase (to avoid sifting through what could be 100's or 1000's of irrelevant results) ...but ...

Advanced Search - HELP!!!
How on Earth do you do an "Advanced Search" on this (or ANY!) forum??? I want to search for a string/phrase (e.g. "ABS wiring diagram"). I don't want posts that have ABS and wiring and diagram scattered around as individual words. I DO want posts that have the string or phrase AB...

So, put the old wheels back on for a 1000 times better, the old suspension for another 1000 times better (that's a million times better already!). Then just put the badges and chrome bits back and you'll have a car that's nearly finished :) I do like a slightly modified car, but that's just a tad to...

Re: ABS/DSC - Calling any INPA experts!...
Thanks again Roberts and Brians etc! @Robert, I agree it is a little odd that my later car requires the ADS interface and your older one is able to use OBD2. As expected, Brian's later (post 09/2000) 3.0 model can use OBD2. @Brian H, my car has DSC according to the website (and more importantly as c...

Re: ABS/DSC - Calling any INPA experts!...
Thanks gents. Brian, that's useful thanks. I've since found that yours would have the Teves MK60 as it was made after 09/2000. My car is likely to have the Teves MK20 as it was made before that in 06/2000 and therefore I'll need a different INPA script - probably the "ABS Mk 20 (DS2)" one....

ABS/DSC - Calling any INPA experts!...
Evening, I have an ABS/DSC issue (lights stay on) on my 06/2000 model 3.0 Z3 and have set up a laptop with INPA 5.0.2 to try and diagnose the problem, as (from reading other people's experiences) there appear to be umpteen possible causes. I've been using the ADS interface to allow me to communicate...

Re: ABS lights - frustration!
Thanks for the update gents. Mike, I wonder if you have the old red herring of a reported wheel sensor fault, which is actually a fault withing the control module, particularly if you've checked, cleaned and/or replaced the wheel sensors already. Anyway, the good news for you is that ECUtesting.com ...

Yes, holy thread hijack - apologies from me too Mike R! At least the subject is still on topic and hopefully at the end of the day we can all learn something useful/new. The post by estocks here on Zroadster.net is the same post that I'd originally seen on the E46fanatics forum and used to se...

Re: ABS lights - frustration!
Hi Brian, That's great, it sounds like you're able to use just the OBD2 interface for access to all modules (you lucky thing!), so I guess your pin 15 in the 20 pin round socket is dead/unused? As you have a 3.0 DSC model similar to mine, are you able to check/confirm a couple of things?.. The build...

Blade, Interesting, I haven't seen that cable before. I live in Sutton SM2 and this is the cable I have... http://www.tek-tronics.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=130 I can't remember if I got it from them, but it's identical to that. Gents, Thanks for the replies. I had an email from Chris at BMTechnic in response to a query and he confirmed exactly what I suspected re: Communicatiing with the ABS module (I hope he doesn't mind me quoting his reply). The Z3 being based on the E36 series may require an ADS type interface in order...

Re: ABS lights - frustration!
Mike/Robert, Did you manage to get any further with this? I have had a similar fault (DSC/ABS lights on) for some time and should get back to trying to resolve it. My car's been SORN'd for a while as I know it will fail the MoT with this fault, so I used this as an excuse to get my other car back on...

John, If you've seen them on YouTube, I guess you've come across a guy called Techmoan? If not, he loves his gadgets (especially cameras) and has done some excellent reviews on quite a few HD dash cams. He tends to review the cheaper end of the market, but he's pretty amusing and quite thorough, so ...

My policy is up soon so it's interesting to see the variation in quotes, even though I know it's a very subjective ...subject. At 47 with umpteen years NCB, living in a "low risk" area (according to insurance brokers) and keeping my Z3 3.0 in a garage, I'm surprised I can't seem to get any...

Thanks for that c_w. The forum has been a goldmine of information and many sleepness nights have been spent searching for similar issues and trawling through the replies! Thanks for the feedback, it's good to hear a 275/35 works. When I asked about changing to 265 or 275s, I was told a 35 profile would result in too big a rolling radius, hence the option of 285/30s instead. By my calculations (not an expert!), these are the rolling radius figures I worked out... :rtm...

Wheel and tyre choice advice required - please!
Hello all, I'm looking to replace my 17" OEM wheels with 18" wheels, but I have a few queries regarding wheel/tyre fitments. I have a 2000 model (facelift) 3.0 with Eibach Pro Kit Springs fitted which lower it by 30mm. The new wheels I have are staggered 8.5" (et38) and 9.5" (et4...
