Re: Intermittent electric hood problem.
An update on my particular problem regards the roof and intermittent power getting to the motor. Around two weeks ago I tried to put the roof down for my return journey from work. It went down faster than I had ever known it, I can't be sure but perhaps I glanced a finger on the switch after the roo...

Re: Intermittent electric hood problem.
When you say it doesn't work, what do you mean? Can you hear the pump running or not? If you can't hear the pump then it is likely to be an electrical problem. If you can hear the pump, then it is either mechanical or hydraulic. Ahh, then in that case it is likely to be an electrical problem, many ...

Re: Intermittent electric hood problem.
Your motor does look very different! Mines a 98 model 2.8, on mine there appears to be a allen key operated aperture located on top of the motor itself, which helpfully I haven't pictured, that I assumed would be for topping up the fluid (from memory anyway), if I find out the cause and resolve it, ...

Intermittent electric hood problem.
I have had a problem with the electric roof, both going up and down. When it decides not to work, it usually won't until I have left it for a while (at times up to an hour). Sometimes I can apply gentle pressure while getting the roof down (foot on brake, finger on button and the other hand applying...

As another newbie, I scouted around locally and found a BMW indie close by, I'd been pointed in their direction via a work colleague who had used them once and was pleased, before using someone else more local to him. Be interested in reading what you find out, I'm in the same boat but its just another job to do for the future, hopefully sometime this year. Other things are taking priority at the moment though. Just wondered if anybody on here could give me a heads up in trying to locate various parts for my zed, I live in the Midlands so would prefer surrounding areas to source them from, if at all possible that is. I've found some wave back, most don't and think who's that? I probably annoy some zed owners, if I see another zed (3 or 4) in a car park, I'll park next to it or as close as possible. As mine needs a bit of 'tarting up', I confess I am likely to be a cause of some embarrassment. Its a condition I a...

Sounds like the motor mounting bracket may have popped a spot weld or two. May be moving and touching the the door open actuator rod. If this is the case you can drill them out and bolt it back on. The only way to find out is to remove the door card I'm afraid. Many thanks for the forewarning, no w...
