Re: Secondary Air Injection Pump
Its a euro or UK spec car. It has the pump. The mechanic has disconnected it for now so it doesn't make that crazy noise.... Its only at point of sale, it must be reconnected or replaced. What you do after that while you own the car, is not tested.

Re: Secondary Air Injection Pump
In Oz, in Melbourne anyway, you dont go to a govt dept for a road check, you go to your local mechanic, even a BMW indy... who know specific cars. An astute buyer or a BMW enthusiast should check you've got a credible road check done. Not via some dodgey bloke who wouldnt know a fiat from an alfa. B...

Re: Secondary Air Injection Pump
In Melbourne you only need to get it tested when you buy or sell a car. Buyers expect a car to be tested and OK, otherwise the price goes down alot. So, its in the sellers interest to get it tested to maximise their sale price. During ownership, you don't need to get regular testing but if police st...

Re: Secondary Air Injection Pump
Ah I seem just noticed you are in Australia, over in the UK the car is tested at normal operating temperature (so the pump has long stopped working). Yep, in Oz... the aussie testing is based on overall function rather than just at startup or at normal operation when warm etc.... so if its on the c...

Re: Secondary Air Injection Pump
It wouldn't surprise me if Pierburg is the OE manufacturer for it I agree. Pierburg seem to have cornered the market for a lot of auxiliary/secondary electronically controlled pumps around the engine bays of German cars. This same question crops up a lot on Audi forums for a similar little (cooling...

Re: Secondary Air Injection Pump
It wouldn't surprise me if Pierburg is the OE manufacturer for it. The pump isn't necessary though, it's just a cold air pump on warm up. Yes, my mechanic said same. In fact he disconnected it last time I was in to stop the stupid noise it was making.. but now, it has a test to pass and needs to be...

Secondary Air Injection Pump
Hi, It appears my "pump" on my 1999 M Roadster (S50) needs replacing.... I can only find 2 versions online, the original BMW part (for $400+ US) and a non-BM part made by 'pierburg' (around $200+ US) which seems to be compatible. Anyone know of another suitable part for this pump or confir...

Re: Car cover or not?
I've found a plastic cover can give the duco micro scratches over time right where the corners, edges rub against the cover.... also when sunny, it can sweat underneath.... which is not good if moisture sits under there awhile. The other problem is when you put the cover on when the car is dirty, th...

Hey guys, Just wondering if you know if the clear plastic cover over the main cluster/dials (speedo revs, petrol, temp) can be removed/replaced without having to open the dash or remove/replace the whole cluster...? I've purchased a windblox for my Z3M just a few months ago now and its great and my partner loves it even more as her hair now stays in place. I got the tinted or smoked version. Just thought I'd share a great cleaning tip on those deep dish M roadster rear wheels. Hi Nicko,
A bit light on info.... can you add a pic?
- what colour?
- fabric? waterproof on indoor only?
- elastic, clips, straps to grip around the base?
- not familiar with the original BM cover, does it have a logo on it?
- do you have a price range in mind?

Hi ya, Just trying to understand the difference between getting the seal kits from mr.vanos or doing a vanos repair.. (im not tech). Shanty,
Thanks for the pic too.... wow!!!
I believe the bulb holder for the heater can be seen here between the two switches with a green band round it.
A: Yes, I can see this...
Q: Can you point out the 2nd globe in the pic? So I can show my mechanic? Or is it hidden?

Guys (shanty... & lebigmec), Thanks heaps... the cost of those panels was freaky expensive!! And now to know there's 2 globes not one, makes all sense, as the whole logic was based on there being one globe. I assume the cold side of your heater switch is also out or very dull? A: YES, exactly. I...

z3m headlights - come on as parking lights?
Hi, Having recently purchased an m roadster I've noticed the headlights don't come on at all when you put the parking lights on. Only the little side slit lights in the bumper come on. Hi all,
When I start my car cold, it has a constant high pitched squealing sound, then once it warms it fades away. It doesn't change on speed or revs.
Any ideas or has anyone else had this?
Oh btw, have a 1999 m roadster.
