Could be the hinge at the back of the carrier is rusted up. Try freeing with WD40.

Andrew Page are doing front Calipers for the 1.9 at £46.27 on the net with old ones in swap if anyone is interested. Cheaper than anyone else I could find. The guys in the shop huffed and puffed at doing them at the Internet price but hey ho.

I have a 1.9 with standard seats and also find them lacking in lumbar support. I think if I ever take the seats out to do the runner bushes I will try to fit a 1" or so thick pad inside the back rest. Wonder if anyone has done it?

This has been annoying me for some time now. Why is it that most people these days insist on holding their car on the foot brake at traffic lights and dazzling the poor driver behind with the high intensity brake lights. I always put the hand brake on and put the car in neutral.

I would be tempted to drop a plumb line from the centre of each wheel onto a level surface and measure the wheelbase and if that is correct maybe the car has had a tap up the rear.

When I did mine off the car I was expecting them to be really hard to push on having read other posts on the subject. But I used the old faithful Fairy Liquid and they slid on a treat. I dare say you may be able to do it on the car using it.

I have the MX5 one made by Fapa on mine. It fits great. It's good and big and made of stainless steel. Just make sure you get all four rubber feet with it if you go for one and that the feet are clean before fitting.

Yes Cosmos Black is metallic. You should be able to see the flecks in the paint when its cleaned and polished.

My experience of start/stop is as you describe but obviously there are cars that work differently. My point is however that it seems to me that more and more drivers hold their cars on the brakes when stationary for a short time such as at traffic lights. It's not just modern cars with start/stop it...

First of all check that the drainage hole is clear at the bottom of the rubber gaitor that surrounds the filler cap. If is blocked it can retail a small amount of fuel and cause the smell. Carefully poke the hole with a cocktail still or similar. Worked on mine.

Don't know if its the bolt on genuine BMW you want but the one made for the MX5 by Fappa, which is clamp on, fits and looks good. They come up on ebay from time to time.
