From what you have replaced so far it looks like the water temp sensor is functioning ok, cleaning the Maf with the wrong stuff is not recommended it will often destroy it as would touching the sensor itself with anything. A bad Maf may well be the cause of your problems as you have already changed ...

Sounds like a classic case of shorting wires or broken wires in the body to boot lid loom. Going to need stripping back the outer cover to check individual wires in that loom for breaks. Solder any breaks and heatshrink them.

No adjustment for rear tracking unless you fit an aftermarket kit. Check out all the rear suspension bushes to see if any are worn, if so replace to bring it back to factory specs and see if that makes a difference to tyre wear. Must be the locking latch not engaging fully when closed, check out the release cable it may be dry and sticking so the latch isn't engaging fully to hold it shut.

If you want replacements call in or phone your local BMW dealer quote the part number and normally they will be available next day for picking up. They will take a payment over the phone usually.

Had to replace my one way valves on mine when it started spraying under the bonnet into the engine bay behind the sound deadening lining. I think you will be looking for a red relay for the main ABS system and a grey relay for the ABS pump, would have thought both these would be in the main fuse/relay box in the engine bay.

Change all the fluids, oil and antifreeze and brake fluid, whilst your about it do the gearbox and rear diff then you know where you are as a start. Facelifts do not all have H7 bulbs as I found out when I checked mine with HB3 and HB4 fitted appears mine built December 1999 was factory fitted. English Owners manual shows H7 which it dosn't have.

Snap, mine has the same as you HB3 and HB4 bulbs.
Intrigued by what you found had a look at my Facelift wide body December 1999 built 1.8, handbook says HB3 High Beam and H7 Low beam, upon checking I find HB3 and HB4.

Put a code reader on it to see if it has set any codes that may guide you to what is wrong. If the radio works in another car then I would think you have no power on the loom in your car. Check with a meter or a test light with the ignition on at the accessory position and see if it has 12v on the radio feed. Good news you fixed it with a replacement Maf. Del was right about the usual cause being an air leak from split rubbers, when I had similar running problems you had I couldn't find any leaks and changed the exhaust sensors as mine seemed very slow to respond when monitored using diagnostic live data...
