Back on road, thanks for everyone's help
Hi, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on the forum that has given me help and advice and to those that have taken the time to write instructional posts on how to do things. Having stuck my car in a ditch four years ago and knowing very little about cars, I have managed (with the assistance of ...

Thanks, will give them a call and see what they think.
If anyone knows of anywhere closer to Oxford that would be really helpful, I was hoping to drop the car off somewhere a cycle home again!
Thanks

Popped welds in boot floor!
So finally got the Zed back on the road (really good to drive it again) only to discover that I've got some popped welds in the boot! :( Had a quick look at the diff mount and it looks ok so I'm hoping it's just the welds. Does anyone know anywhere around oxfordshire where I can take this where they...

Thanks for the responses
I checked with BMW, they do have one but it is quite pricey!
There are several on ebay but only one stating that it has the correct product code, does anyone know if they are all compatible or are the variances?
mrscalex - I will send a pm

Re: Control arm replacement
Hi, thanks for your replies. Not sure if the M is different but I can't see anyway of getting to the nut from above on the drivers side (might be possible on the passenger - I can sort of see it) as the engine is right up against the chassis at the point I would need to try and get to the nut. Gazza, thanks for the link. Hi I'm going through the process of repairing my Z3M and also replacing the suspension all round at the same time. I had to replace the control arm on the passenger side as it was damaged so thought I would do the same on the drivers side but I'm struggling to get to the nut for the middle ball join...

Getting back on the road, what do I need to do?
Hi, I posted on here a couple of years back about getting my Z3M back on the road after I put it in a ditch. My plans were sidelined somewhat by a fairly messy divorce but I kept the car and now I'm back to the same place trying to work out how to fix the broken bits with the help of the forum and a...

Re: BC Racing Coilovers
Thanks to all for your advice. I bought them from Corby Motorsport and the guy assures me they are the camber and caster adjustable M version and they certainly look to be adjustable in two planes so hopefully are correct. I agree it's pretty disappointing they are selling the 6kg if not really suit...

These appear to have had positive reviews from a number of posters so I ordered a set which duly arrived. Totally agree it's not worthwhile putting a non M bumper on. Had originally been thinking that I could keep costs down by sourcing second hand but with M specific parts this does not seem to be an option. Re: Insuring a Z3M, an appreciating asset.
The £4k figure was set against the book valuation of £4900. When they finally agreed to the £8k valuation they would not change the value they would pay to get it fixed. To be honest the point I was trying to make is that the book values at the time bore no relation to the actual value of the cars (...

Re: Insuring a Z3M, an appreciating asset.
As someone who has unfortunately just been through this you are right to be concerned about the 'book value'! I had a minor crash in mine only a few months after I bought it and the insurance co used Glasses Guide (which was the highest of the book values) which came back at circa £4900 (I paid £8k ...

Re: What's a Z3M worth?
As someone that bought a Z3M at the end of Sept last year (having spent some time looking), the prices for normal cars (70k miles upwards) at the moment seem to be several thousand higher. Obviously condition, mileage etc play a big part and original, immaculate, very low mileage examples will alway...

Re: Disaster - Advice needed
Lee, I agree I think it could be fixed for much less. I have another garage lined up who are prepared to take a more make do and mend approach but at the moment the insurance co will only pay up to £4k costs (based on their valuation) which I do not think will be enough. I am also concerned that the...

Del Thanks for the advice and the insight. Certainly not looking to make empty or vexatious threats and quite prepared to follow through. So insurance co have finally come back and offered £4910 saying this is based on retail value from glasses guide! Thanks. Door speakers were a pleasant surprise as I had heard the standard stereo was not that great. Has an Alpine head unit and amp in the boot and I think there may be something wrong with one of the door speakers so I need to take it off and have a look.
