Hi,
It is also possible to adjust the compression of the window onto the rubber gasket. Under the speed-generated wind, a slight gap could generate a whistling noise. And of course facilitate water ingress.
Plenty of advice available on the forum on how to adjust the window.
Hope that helps,
Boosh.

Re: New rear window fitting?
Replacing the rear window is not exactly rocket science, it's just a real test of patience. I did it with a friend a couple of years ago, and it took us a few tries to get it right. What is frustrating is that being off by one tooth in the zip will force you to do it again. My advice is to mark two ...

You were lucky! No amount of WD40 would fix my dead motor. Surprisingly, swapping for a working one did the trick... Some you win, some you lose, I suppose.
But replacing the bushes some months later was all the easier.

Hi, depending on the condition, if it's not too far gone, a cheap solution might be to to polish your headlight with toothpaste on a rag. Fitting can be quite daunting as neither of the zipper parts has an end piece. Therefore, the window may not zip up properly should you not start on the right tooth. Do not force it. Being methodical and counting which tooth you start on will make this job much easier. As to how long it takes? As lo...

The brake pads do not operate the handbrake. They bite on the edge of the disc, which is shaped like a top-hat. It is! And a secondhand engine is much easier to find (and cheaper) in the UK. In France, it cost me €1.8k for the engine, and €1.5k to fit it last year (2002 1.9) but the mileage was halved (127k to 62k), and had a 1yr warranty on it.
