Re: Z3 Starting issue
Right, issue is fixed. New Lead Acid Battery in place resolved the issue. So suggest when jumping remove both + and - leads from battery as having left the + connected whilst trying to jump has some impact on process. Anyhow hope this helps someone also.

Re: Z3 Starting issue
More investigation late last night, had the battery on charge as it seemed to be losing its charge fast, so checked the earths and voltage at front of car and were around 12.4v, decided to try and turn over again, but this time, dash lights faded and no solenoid noise, lights had small amount of glo...

Radio Aerial
Hi all, I removed the radio aerial from the rear wing and it seems to have some sort of booster box attached to its base, I left it all connected and just put it in the book space, plugged in the coax cable in the back of the stereo but get no radio signal, just static noise, any ideas?, Can I bypas...

Hi Zeebedee,
Nope the MOT test checks if the airbag light is on and it isn't due to some inline resistors, however the passenger airbag is present and fully functional, so all is clear.

Part identification
Hi, Does anyone know what this part is, it was fixed to the underside of my front bumper, outside temperature sensor? It has a large round metal face on the other side, which must face down towards the road surface. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5782/20792804041_e1717f7ba6_c.jpg DSCN4400 by eric ho...

Re: Rear Suspension and wheels and gaps and stuff
Ok, so having thought long and hard about it, I am going with thicker rear pads to increase ride height a bit 15mm or so giving me twice the gap I have now, I will also add damper bumpstops so that the movement (in an upwards direction) is limited so it wont smash the arches. I may also trim the ins...

Hi this would make them 696mm in diaHairyscreech wrote:The race cars had 225/70s I believe.
My ones are 737mm dia. not much difference. However there is a huge difference in the wheel arch from the original to the kit car

Re: Rear Suspension and wheels and gaps and stuff
another suggestion, the rear springs from eurocarparts make the back end sit much higher. i fitted them to my 1.9 and the back end went up by at least an inch. i soon took them off and fitted lowering springs as it was way too high for a standard Z3 but it might work for your build? The new springs...

Z3 Seats (unfortunate sale)
Hi, I have spent a huge amount of time and effort adjusting a lovely set of Rover 75 Electric and heated seats to fit my Z3 for my SWB Tribute build. I am gutted to be selling them as the look the business, only problem is that when they are in the car the base of the seat is so thick and comfortabl...

Re: Rear Suspension and wheels and gaps and stuff
Thanks again all, I am just a hobbyist changing panels on my car and taking on some of the work with basic tools, no risks and if it looks too hard then I am not going to tackle it :D I am going for the look of the 1961 LeMan car which had huge rear tyres so not stock, however they went under the ar...

Re: Rear Suspension and wheels and gaps and stuff
Thanks all for the brilliant suggestions, some which would require more work than others. Ideally I would want the tyre inside the arch, I dont like the idea of a camber as it would need to be significant, Changing the rear drive shaft to an M series is well beyond my skill set and tools. The 2 idea...

Hi All, I am converting my Z3 into a Ferrari 250 swb Convertible hybrid I have changed the back end of the car and need some guidance on fitting the very large rear wheels and tyres. Not sure quite what to do at the moment, torn between electronic mod (Finding right wire and adjusting signal), adjusting software (Excellent thread linked, and I read it all the way through, and at the end the bloke gave up as it didn't work....!), or maybe the easiest thing is to change the gauge ...

Thanks both for these tips, I have an ONC in electronics and HNC in hardware/software engineering, therefore if I was 25 years younger I would easily be able to do this, however my memory now only recalls the important things in life :dunce: , and this stuff is not at the top of the list. Re: Adjust speedo for significantly larger wheels/tyre combo
Love to use Wires, but not easy to find a good set for small £££'s that will fit and give the look I want, so until bank balance gets healthy then I am going with a set of 17" alloys (Calibre Vintage) with as larger walled tyres that can fit, infact 2 just got delivered Dunlop 235/65/17 This gi...

Thanks both,
Oh dear, just replaced speedo backing with Cream one as making dash look 'older', but get your point. Shame there is no digital solution to it.

Adjust speedo for significantly larger wheels/tyre combo
Hi, is there a way of adjusting the speedo to reflect the true speed if I change my wheels and tyres from stock 245/40/17 to 235/65/17? Based on the online calculators i will be going 17.4% faster than what the speedo tells me, so at 30 mph I'll be going 35.2mph and a reading of 60mph on speedo I'll...

Hi all,
Does anyone know how to remove the indicator and wiper plastic parts with the arrows on from the metal stalks?
I have ordered some after market metal ones and want to know how to get the original one off.
Thanks in advance.

Z3 roll bar removal - Caps for holes left
Hi,
I have standard roll bars on my Z3 and want to remove them, which seems easy enough. However I need 4 caps to fit over the holes that will be left once removed. Does anyone know the part number of these caps?
Thanks.
