Re: Alarm going off continuously when parked
Bonnet alarm switch is another favorite - just disconect the plug connecter to the switch and add a wire loop across the terminals to make it think the bonnet is closed.

Re: Wax oil/undersealing
Why is it an advisory? Probably because the tester is unable to examine for corrosion in floor panels, sills, suspension components, brake pipes, etc because they are covered in underseal - I sprayed the underneath of mine prior to MOT - got one advisory "underneath covered in underseal". W...

You'll get an advisory every MOT - but heylightning wrote:Dilute the Waxoyl with 10% gearbox oil and it stops it from going hard/flaking off.
I tried it on my friend's static caravan chassis, six years later the coating is still sticky and mostly intact after being subject to six British Winters.

Re: Discs & Pads (to groove or not?)
Recently put plain discs all round on my 1.9 and very pleased with them - did the handbrake shoes at the same time, which is operating great now. The only thing I think about grooved/drilled discs is that your pads will wear a lot quicker due to the cutting action of the gooves (until they get fille...

Hi, Just bought my 2000 1.9 Z3 out of storage – got the ABS and ASC lights on the dash. I know this is well documented on the internet but I am a bit confused with the codes I have got using the C110 reader. The codes are:- 93 -Engine intervention via CAN 98 ASC button 71 ABS pump – motor fault To s...

@ Dino D Hi, Sorry for delay in replying - if you look at the second link, parts 10 - 14 form a bearing that allows the steering column to turn in the steering tube, part 1, in the same diagram, and this is the bearing that needs lubricating. Re: Squeaky steering wheel fix ( read this )
An easier way to oil/grease the lower steering bearing and spring is to remove the trim panel directly below the steering wheel. You will see the outer steering tube in which the steering shaft travels. Drill a small hole in the outer tube which allows you to squirt oil or grease into the shaft tube...

I've just had the ABS and ASC lights come on and stay on, on my 2000 1.9 Z after it had been standing for 6 weeks, it being fine before parking up. Don't wish to be pedantic but, its not the DVLA rules that affect mot's but VOSA. DVLA merely reports on the history. Try sourcing a second hand part from a breaker and replace it. It's the rear disc / drum, so not as serious as a front. However, you really don't want a disc coming apart whilst driving. You could end up having parts smashing into the bodywork under the wing and arch. Used brake discs from a breake...
