Re: Lighting Failure

I did some more investigation today. After inspecting all fuses in the fusebox closely, Fuse 34 had a hairline fracture that meant it was passing current intermittently. I've replaced this fuse. Compared with last night, the offside reversing light is now working, but offside rear indicator and offs...

Lighting Failure

A couple of weeks ago, literally a couple of days after an MOT, I was driving and when indicating the indicators went at double speed. Fortunately I had a spare bulb on me, so I replaced the failed bulb at offside rear. However, when I went to check the new bulb, putting on the right indicator, noth...

Re: Cars can be Coronavirus casualties too

I've been having lots of problems with the battery going flat. For some reason, my Z3 seems to develop a flat battery much faster than any other car. My original battery did this and I replaced it when it was 13 years old, and the current battery is 9 years old this year. Currently, I've got insuffi...

Re: Condensation

Mine is terrible for condensation. Prior to Covid, my Z3 was my daily driver, and the condensation was a minor irritant in the winter. However, with driving and having the heating and ventilation going, it limited condensation to some degree. This year though, thanks to Covid I've barely driven my Z...

Re: Mid-chassis tapping noise

I've sorted my noise problem. First of all, when I checked under the car, the bracket supporting the fuel tank seemed a bit loose, as if a rubber gasket had perished. I fitted a new gasket to prevent the bracket from rattling about. This did not solve the problem. I replaced the rubber mount on the ...

Re: Mid-chassis tapping noise

Thanks for the responses. Perhaps I will carry out the works on the handbrake, and through replacing components I may be able to identify or rule out issues with the linkage. If the issue were exhaust brackets I would be seriously concerned if the garage didn't spot the issue. Same goes for drivesha...

Re: Water....

I had terrible water ingress problems, with puddles of water sitting on the leather seats after nights sat outside in the rain. Evidently the leather seats are good given the amount of water they held! The problem, as already mentioned, is rubber bungs at the top corners of the windscreen. Rain wate...

Mid-chassis tapping noise

Hi. I'm new to the forum. I've got a 1999 BMW Z3 roadster with the 2.8 litre straight six. I've owned it for nearly four years, although it has been in the family since 2004. I have an unresolved noise issue. A couple of months ago the car developed a clattering/tapping noise which appeared to come ...
