Eibach lowering springs and suspension overhaul! (finally)
I finally managed to find the spare time and cash to lower the car so happy days :) I got the Eibach Pro-kit lowering springs, new Meyle rear shock mounts, drop links and anti-roll bar bushes. The front was ok but the lower suspension arm bushes were a bit soft for my liking so replaced them with a ...

Re: What am I missing? Boot loom/central locking/alarm issue
Thank you for that, sounds like my digital multimeter will come in handy. In its last moments the alarm or central locking wouldn't work from the remote (kept blowing the fuse) but if I used the key in the lock it did work a couple of times before finally giving up (the fuse is still fine). So I pre...

Re: What am I missing? Boot loom/central locking/alarm issue
Sadly the central locking does not respond in any way. If I use the key in the drivers door (passengers is blank) or the boot it will only open set lock and none other. If I sit inside and press the pin down the other side does not respond and vice versa. The strange bit is all of the fuses are fine...

Re: What am I missing? Boot loom/central locking/alarm issue
So do you reckon other wires can be damaged underneath the sleeving? Would it be worth then to rip them all out and replace the length between boot lid and body?

What am I missing? Boot loom/central locking/alarm issue :(
Hi Guys just wanted to check if anybody experienced the same problem before giving up and handing the car over to an electrician. I have a facelift 1999 2.0 Manual Z3, when I went to open it with the remote one day it didn’t work, so I replaced the battery and tried to pair it with the car but the c...

Re: Newbie with questions, thanks all!!!
Which steering wheel do you have? Is it the black M Sport one from the M3 E36? If so mine was also a bit faded in places but the leather is extremely durable, I used AutoGlym Leather Cleaner first and then AutoGlym Leather Balm to treat it and it looks brand new

Re: New member!
So I soldered the broken cable, isolated all the ones that were exposed, checked the fuses for alarm, central locking and remote locking, re-connected the battery and NOTING :( Still no joy opening the car from the remote, lock, or from inside. I tried to re-pair the remote key to the car, LED flash...

http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll274/cinq2/DSC_0853_zpsqzcixvhd.jpg As expected it's the boot loom :head: the red cable is completely severed, the thick white one has chunks out of it and the blue/white one doesn't look great either. No wonder the central locking or alarm won't work. I did mana...

Re: New member!
At first when the central locking failed to open from the remote I checked the fuses and one of the 5A was blown so I replaced it and the central locking worked off the lock but when I tried it off the remote the fuse went again. However after a while the central locking stopped working off the key,...

Re: New member!
Same here, it took about two months of emailing breakers but in the end someone listed the exact one on ebay for £13.99 delivered :D The car recently developed a central locking/alarm fault. I replaced the battery in the key and done the pairing procedure but still no joy, before when pressed the le...

Re: New member!
Thank you :) The dash arirbag light came on as the wires pulled off underneath the drivers seat, unfortunately the previous owner ignored it for a very long period of time I presume and the wires were touching/earthing which caused the ecu to fry basically. No big deal as it's located behind the das...

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum so just thought I would introduce myself and my 2.0 6 cylinder Topaz Blue Z3 Roadster. I had the car for almost 3 years now, purchased it from the fourth owner with a fully stamped up to date service book and some history, it's done about 70k now but still drives great....
