I think you'll find its a dirty/faulty wheel sensor. The sensor detects the rotation of the wheel, if its dirty and not outputting that the wheel is rotating the ABS thinks that wheel has locked up, therefore you get the ABS triggering. If it has no output for any length of time, the system should d...

I'm aware of the futility of trying to argue with a fruit-blind fanboy, the kind that thinks Apple is being somehow singled out and unfairly persecuted, because they cannot see of all the tech companies in the world Apple is equally if not more so Machiavellian in its business practices. Of course ...

It's a new software version. You won't get a better camera, but you might get a better (faster) camera app, and some of the technologies that opther phones have had for 10 years, such as modems functionality, copy/paste and MMS support. My point was the money-grabbing chums in Cupertino may want £2...

Re: Autoglass
I wouldn't call the Autoglass screen fitters 'Monkeys' as they have far more expertise in this field than any BMW mechanic (sorry - 'Technician') who may be learning how to fit a screen on YOUR car. Experience makes for a better job, and the quality of the screen fitting constitutes quite a bit of ...

I like these forums, because there are so many armchair experts that can tell me what my Z3 cannot do, yet when I step into it it seems to react like the Z4 it isnt, and has ASC or DSC modes that it definately cant have....... Guess mine must be faulty... unless of course there are too many handboo...

I think you'll find that all Z3s fitted with DSC have 3 modes of operation. Default mode is DSC on... Single quick press of the DSC button (DSC light illuminated) - this deactivates DSC and activates ADB (Automatic Differential Brake) which is basically like a diff lock that uses the rear brakes to ...

Just replaced my thermostat today. No need to faff about with special tools to remove the fan - on mine there were 3 allen screws holding the plastic fan to the viscous hub - simply remove those, the fan blades come off and easy access to the thermostat. You must have small hands then! I couldn't g...

Actually my thermostat needs replacing at the moment - thought the giveaway with that is the temperature gauge is not at top dead centre (half-way) like it usually is, but swinging between the first mark and almost half- way. I have noticed however that the heating is not as warm as usual too. A job...

Well it was a waste of time emailing BMW technical support about the 2 different part numbers for the brake pads. Their reply was that I should ask my dealer! Since it was my dealer that fitted the pads that are for the 1.9 only, they are bound to tell me that there is no difference if I ask them. D...

Who mentioned the auxiliary water pump/container to you? Just sounds like a lot of rubbish to me. The Z3 heater does blend hot and cold air for you, but it does it in the last few degrees of travel of the heater knob. If you want cooler air, turn the knob to full heat, then move it very slightly bac...

I suppose I am just going to have to wait and see if I get a response back from BMW or Textar. I got the brakes as hot as i could dare to clean them - they certainly smelt hot! 100% agree with C_W here. It's most likely pad material that has transferred to the disc. If it is you should Read this - http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_warped_brakedisk.shtml Then go and do this - http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm The other culprit could be worn lower arm ball ...

The chamfer is often to reduce noise I think. I can't see a judder problem being caused by incorrect fitment (ie there were for a 1.9) as the judder is usually as a result of deposits on the discs which can happen with any pads. It is annoying though when it happens, sometimes difficult to get rid ...

Brake Pad Technical Query - possible wrong pads?
I don't know if anyone can answer this but.... I have been suffering brake judder on my 3.0 Sport when braking for the best part of a year now. If you have the Euro ones which are speed sensitive, you can also adjust the intermittent interval too. You do this by flicking the wipers to intermittent, then to off - wait the interval you require, then switch wipers to intermittent again. The interval achievable is approximately 1 seconds to 20...

I can't see it being the tyres tbh, even if they are different it would normally only affect on-the-limit handling.
