Re: SOLD.......293 hp supercharged 2.8 for £5000
I agree Stu, It's not perfect, but it was already on the car so can't complain. Its definitely effective at what it does though, and it's nice to know there is plenty of head room to take things further. I'm prepping the car for track use and it's nice to know the next stage is only a metal headgas...

Re: SOLD.......293 hp supercharged 2.8 for £5000
Unlikely to be a vanos issue, more likely I'd have through some dodgy reading from a sensor causing the mis-fuelling? Is it definitely showing no errors on the Engine Management system? FYI, not all errors show a light, so could still be a number of factors. Also, I had an issue with the rubber bell...

Hey Stu. Whats the front bottom?? Pingu had the fuel stops well planned out. I had 15litres in the boot and only used it once or twice. There is a 24-hr unmanned station at Durness which was a blessing. Front Bottom = nickname for a Porsche http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a296/StuB_Yorks/New%20To...

Awesome road trip & great write up too.
How did you manage for Fuel Stops in the V8 XLS? I was up in the Hebrides in the Front Bottom last weekend and was a bit cautious of using the loud pedal too much just in case we ran short!

I think the M engines benefits (like most) from frequent oil changes and good quality oil. VANOS is also an issue on various M engines.
I think if there was any gap in evidence of this, I'd walk away.
Any engine that has 100bhp/litre from normal aspiration is not lightly stressed.

I might have a fan shroud in the loft, been doing nothing since our SC conversion in 2000. Ours is the M52-TU, but I think the rads/fans were all pretty similar. Will have a look next week (busy weekend planned). Where are you based? I'm near the top of the M18 (few of you will know where this is I'...

Tell me more about that lightweight you're slapping the M52 into. What running gear's it going to use? Brakes, steering, diff, suspension? I've always fancied a self built kit car, but always thinking the westfield/caterham variety, with a decent sized not overly tuned n/a mill in it (big fan of red...

Hi Nick Welcome to ZR. You must be fairly local if you know about/went to Blyton Park? I'm in Howden, East Yorks, so it's a nice run from here to there. There was a very detailed 1.9 conversion by Mark Norton, where he did an epic amount of work & didn't complete or sold on before it got out much. Our m52-the with ESS Vortech V2 is brilliant. It wasn't cheap, is similar to an M car (but totally Q) and is a keeper. For a car now, surely uneconomi...

As said by Vic, I think the scoring is not a good sign. The clearance between the tips of the rotors and the casing need to be very fine and scores on both suggest there's play in your bearings or something has run through the blower, like dirt/sand and has abraded the surfaces. Basically, the press...

Had these & as said soft compound & fast wearing, but not that grippy either. I'm now on the Falkens recommended on here & they seem pretty decent, but I would still try the Goodyear as they suited the Z across a few generations of tyre with a compliant sidewall.

In theory, the E36 manifold should fit, but I'd suggest you measure the engine bay once the engine is in. Diff, no idea, but I'd have thought you need LSD with a blown as50, so 2.8 diff is better. Coil overs are a good idea as are body braces & bush upgrades. Do a search for boot floor/diff moun...

IMHO, the tramlining can be reduced by fitting the M3 E36 rear Control Arm bush (it's solid compared to the Z3's stock part hollow). My indie showed me years ago how easy it is to move the lower TCA by hand! Good tyres (suited to the car) and strutbrace also help. I don't think it's brand specific t...
