Hunting is usually an air leak. Strange that it only happens when you are reversing.

It could be that you are driving so slowly. Does it happen when you try to crawl along at very low speed, especially uphill?

Its not Voltage that fries electronics its amps. The car will take voltage up to around 14-15v it seems (not that you would ever do that). When using progman for example it draws amps. The problem is unlikely to be cured by a new cable as the original is usually OK. It is the connection that is weak. Tape it tightly with electrical tape.

The cable is part of the seat belt tensioner.

That sounds like a mounting (engine, gearbox or diff) or the giubo, or loose propshaft nuts (very unlikely unless they have been touched since new).

Start high.

Try webuyanycar.com and then double, or treble it.

They are quoting £9k for my 130,000 example, so I'd advertise at £18k and lower as summer approaches. Someone would think they got a bargain when they pay £15k in May or June on a car advertised at £16.5k
