Re: Front Seat Lift Spacers / Seat Lifters

The reason is to try to prevent the rear of the frame being bent if the bolts are overtorqued. They probably don't do much. In an ideal world, the bolt would be perpendicular to the seat base, or have a wedged washer below the bolt head to keep the bolt aligned with the captive nut. If you want a se...

Ouch. I was expecting at least £4k less than that, given the lack of servicing and the risk you would be taking.

A baffled sump may help more than uprated internals, but ask BrianH. He has one, and it's mainly a track car.

I would be the same. I would only buy if the price allowed for a complete refresh of all oils and lubricants, brake pads, discs and clutch and the VANOS. I'd take the gamble on serious mechanical damage based on the test drive. Old oil can knacker the VANOS - so root around inside the cam cover with...

Coolant and brake fluid should have been changed since 2015 based on time. Brake fluid should have been changed twice!! The oils should have been changed due to time, but the service indicator may not say so as the service interval is based on mileage (or fuel used). It doesn't sound like it was ver...

Re: INPA brake bleed?

In all honesty, I don't know, but if the reservoir drained down, you will need to fully bleed the system (including bleeding the pump). If you just left the hoses and pipes open, I would rebuild the system and open the bleed nipples and let the system drain (but keep the reservoir topped up). Use gr...

Re: INPA brake bleed?

If you have let air in at the master cylinder, you will definitely need to bleed the pump, as that slug of air will reach the pump at some time. If you are sure there is air in the master cylinder, I would disconnect the pipes from the master cylinder at the ABS pump and plug the ports on the pump. ...

There's no need to activate the ABS pump unless air has entered it, unless you want to purge ALL the old fluid.

I've replaced hoses, calipers and replaced fluid, but have never lost enough fluid to be worried about the pipes from the pump being emptied.

A coolant pressure tester is a good tool.

There is a tool that works in reverse (it creates a "vacuum") and is used to fill the system. It can also test for leaks, but isn't as good a tester.

I agree with Robert, something is not right. You should be fully heated at the end of 10 miles. 3-5 miles should be enough to start the burn-off process. If your exhaust tip is too hot to grab hold of, your engine is hot enough. I assume that you have no oil in the coolant, as you didn't mention it....

Find the price from BMW. I suspect they may have some, as it's a very unusual part to need. Then compare that price to the cost of having the harness manufactured. It should be quite easy to get one manufactured if you can supply an original (even if it is burnt out).
