my M44 used to get around 30-35 (depending on urban / extra urban etc) but since my exhaust has started disintegrating i'm getting around 25mpg.
not to worry though i have a new SS exhaust going on this week so that should sort it out

furniture clinic kits are great. i have dyed my seats from beige to black with a semi matt finish and they look like new seats. it is very hard wearing stuff, i have used the car most days during the summer, leaving to roof down in the sun and no signs of any defects in the finish.

i have a 1.9 auto and it has a good kickdown although i find i have to give it a hard push on the pedal to activate it. if the kickdown hasn't been used that often it could have dirt in the switch stopping it from working?
try a hard push on the pedal, it should drop the gear and go up to the redline.
