have you got the dished washers on the top the right way round?
they should be cupped away from the mount. i found out the hard way and put them on upside down and they rattled like hell.

Have you tested the switch?
no, it was working fine and has been tested now it's off. in sport mode it holds the revs a lot longer before changing gear so it's really obvious when it has been selected.

By disconnecting the switch (did you disconnect the battery before pulling connectors off?) you've probably reset the ECU memory. The fuel consumption will be different while the ECU re-learns engine settings. This used to happen on my Transit Connect van, after the battery had had been disconnecte...

a couple of questions......

i have a 1.9 auto pre-face. the other day when i was trial fitting the gear surround i got from southernboy, i disconnected the sports switch and i just realised today that i must have forgotten to plug it back in as i have no function on the switch. the weird thing is, the MPG seems to have gone up...

sweet..... :wink: i received mine the other day. i have to make a few mods as it doesn't fit straight on to an auto gear surround but i will post pics when it's done. what a great job he has made of these ,much better than the ones you get aftermarket for other cars. again, hope Barry recovers soon.

i have sworn by V power for the last year or so. the guy who mapped my Impreza saw a significant reduction in power when running it on 95 ron and my zed runs much better after a few tanks full. to coin a phrase.....it does what it says on the tin. you won't see an immediate difference but stick with...

another suggestion, the rear springs from eurocarparts make the back end sit much higher. i fitted them to my 1.9 and the back end went up by at least an inch. i soon took them off and fitted lowering springs as it was way too high for a standard Z3 but it might work for your build? The new springs...

Just to prove a point, my Impreza was mapped on high octane at 285BHP / 330lbft torque. i went on a rolling road day with the subaru club a few weeks later (just to join in the fun) and had to use 95 ron as my local shell was being re-stocked with fuel. it only produced 270 / 320lbft so went back a ...

i think that that only applies to much older cars before the first of the Z3s were even made that were designed to run on 4 star leaded fuel. i believe all zeds were designed to run unleaded fuel.

i think you'll find that the 1.8 and 1.9 (4cyl) use a narrower axle to the 6 cyl models as they have narrow rear arches. the M also uses a narrower axle to accommodate the wide lip rear wheels under the wide arches. the 6 cyl use a wider rear axle under the wide arches. this applies to all pre-facel...

i still can't see how your front wheels don't stick out of the arches? :? i've tried my rear 5 series 17" x 8" ET20 style 32 on the front and they stick out of the arch a long way. Have you got a picture of one fitted Mugs? here's a photo of the spare 8 x 17 et20 from an E39 on the front ...

basically the same set up as me (style 32) only i'm using Z3 7.5 x 17 et 41 on the front and E39 8x17 et20 with 20mm spacers (1.9 wide arch conversion so narrower axle).
i have 225 45 17" front and 245 40 17 rear (or at least i will when the rear wheels come back from their refurb).

thanks to Brian i have been in contact with Joycey and have now cured 95% of the rattles. the fuel tank was sorted by dropping the tank enough to get some foam packing on top of it that holds it tight when the straps are tightened. the other rattles were down to the rear shock lower bolts not having...

Not sure what another tank will do. I would open the straps and also put foam underneath both straps. it is not the straps making the noise - the rubbers are fine - it is the breather / roll over shut off valve in the top of the tank that has become loose so another tank where the valve hasn't come...
