SpunkyM, I think that you are right about blocking off the brake duct. Only one aperture of the same size as the existing air-intake snorkel from the brake duct should increase the ram pressure into the air-intake. It wouldn't be difficult to manufacture and fit a blanking plate for the brake duct a...

Re: Thoughts about the Z3M air intake...
This is in addition to the main air intake which is the the left of the headlight which 'rams' air into the intake supposedly creating positive pressure. I was wondering what the purpose of the pipe in the air duct was? As far as I can tell, what this essentially creates is a venturi effect in the ...

Re: Water
Why not put a polythene bag over the exhaust outlets before washing the car? Prevention is better than cure, as BMW silencers are not stainless steel. I've got a pair of ///M rear silencers partially dissected in my shed (for experimentation purposes) and I can assure you that they are made of stai...

Excuse my ignorance but I am just curious to know exactly what 'heel and toe' is? Heel and toe, is a technique where you keep your heel on the accelerator and your toe on the brake at the same time so that you are operating both brake and accelerator simultaneously. The reason that you do this is t...

The pedals are not adjustable. The answer to this one is to get yourself a set of AC Schnitzer pedals such as these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-AC-Schnitzer-Manual-Pedals-MT-E30-E34-E36-E46-M3-M5_W0QQitemZ8076967956QQcategoryZ40197QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem The covers that fit on the clutch and brake pedal...

board, These trays are meant to stay put and not fall off. The fact that it fell off would indicate that the last time the tray was removed it was not re-fitted properly. If the last time the tray was off to do part of the servicing was at the garage where your car now sits, then the finger must sur...

board, I've had this part off on my MC and it wasn't rocket science to fix. If you can get under the car you'll see that the front end of the tray has to be inserted first and then when that's in place, the tray simply bolts onto the other panels through the metal cleats that fit over the holes in t...

Go for Falken 451s. They're not a fashionable make but they are outstanding on both wet and dry and they're cheap, so you can afford to drive on new rubber more often. The OEM exhausts on the ///M are stainless. Put a magnet to them to show that they're not the sort of steel that usually rusts. Since stainless steel is an alloy, it's normal that occasionally the mixing of metals is not entirely a perfect homogenous mix. So an area of greater percentage of Iron tha...

S50 = Single Vanos S54 = Double vanos I would suggest that the reason why the Double Vanos appears to be more reliable could be down to the fact that the Double Vanos is constantly working whilst the engine is running thus being permanently lubricated with flowing oil, whereas the Single Vanos only ...

Airfilter is the same on these as the 3.2 M engine so if its ok for an M it should flow easily enough for a 2.8. The box is practically the same (if not the same). No the chopper also records from what I hear, you ever seen a white rectangle in the road? About a couple of feet wide and a foot long? These are usually a set distance apart. Measured the height to the wheel arch last night, it sits 645mm on the front and 655 on the rear. So if the MR is the same as the MC I’ve dropped 20 and 15 mm respectively. If I replaced the dampers will this put me back to original height or will the drop be due to the springs? To be pedantic, it'...
