Standard model 135i and 335i put out at least 325bhp (which co-incidently is the same as is quoted for the same engine in the 740i...), and BMW will having their own remap packages out soon, which will keep your warranty in place.

I would go for a old skool e39 5 series, pocket money to buy, bullet proof engineering, lovely looking especially in sport guise!! Even 540's, Alpinas and M5's are affordable now. They haven't aged badly either - they still look fresh and modern in the facelifted variant especially. Spokey, with ne...

Interesting that they are all in the same tax band... There is, apparently, a coupe on it's way, which is what I'm hoping for, in the twin-turbo. By which time, BMW will have their own tuning options out, so, mid to high 300's bhp should be easily available, given that the standard engine gives at l...

Re: A reminder of why I love my car!

A true V engine Is it? I thought it was an "inline V" engine, like the VR6, W8 and W12 engines, where they are either a very narrow V engine, or a staggered inline, depending on how you define them? Although the W variants open up another definition can of worms - are they a staggered V o...

Well, seeing as the brochure says Z4, I think it's a bit late to change the name. It is only 90kg more than the current 3.0Si roadster, which I don't think is too bad when you consider that it has a folding metal hardtop. I'd be interested to see some European specs, as the 3.0 seems to be down in p...

120d is what I'd choose then! You can apparently chip it to 200+bhp and 440NM quite easily too, although the standard model is no slouch. I'd not be too worried about the 18" wheels, most E36 on wheels fit, and you could spend your £1000 saving on a nice set without run flats. It'll make a worl...

Having had both, there's no real difference in running costs between a 118d and a 120d. The extra power of the 120d kind of makes up for the slightly lower fuel economy as you don't have to drive it as hard. However, check if either has the Efficient Dynamics kit, which came in in 07 at some point (...

Personally, I think this is rubbish. It's certainly not the case here in Northern Ireland. All the same octane/cetane ratings of fuel come in to the same place (95, 97/8 and diesel). A fuel then becomes branded when it is put into the tanker and the additive package is added. BP and Sainsburys use E...
