Re: Impala Brown with unusual options
That is suggestive of some sort of test car - perhaps a press car, or a show car?
The engine is correct - the M43 is a 1.9 but is listed as a 1.8 to differentiate from the M44 (which is exactly the same displacement).

Re: Impala Brown with unusual options
Well if it's as suggested a pilot build it could have any combination of parts fitted. Given that it's a 2001 car I can't really see what it could be a 'pilot build' of? The facelift was a year previous, unless the car was built a long time before it was registered. Mrscalex, what's the build date?...

No, there's nothing you need to do. Any gas in the tank will just stay there unless the solenoids are opened by the lpg system, which obviously won't be happening.

I scanned something about heated seats? Is there a question over whether this model with have them? The question arose because the ad states the seats are heated, but the heated seat switches are not on the dash, where they should be. Just do everything through the port under the bonnet - there's no point using the one under the dash unless that's all you have a cable for.

It was built with heated seats. Are the switches at the back of the console? It was built with an onboard computer. Didn't even know the pre-facelifts had them It was built with hardtop preparation. There's no 'fiddling' required! You just need calipers from a 6 cylinder (I have some from an E46) and vented discs. Unbolt the old stuff, bolt on the new, bleed the brakes and away you go.

I'd just pop the cover open and have a look. Stick a blunt knife under the front edge and pop it up. Even if you do have an airbag there's nothing for you to damage by taking the cover off and you won't set the airbag off (unless you happen to hit at tree at exactly the same time!).

Although Z3's have a common wiring loom, BMW tended to hide the unused plugs very well indeed. They almost certainly won't be floating around and easy to find, but you'll need to look at the nearby harnesses and look for the plugs being bound to one of them.
