Re: Outside air temp sensor Z3m
Bit of a thread resurrection I know. I'm at the stage of testing stuff during my rebuild and stupidly unwired the old Guages before marking or taking photos of them. The outside air temperature one has 4 connections, all spades. I have markings on the gauge, 1, 2 '+' and '-'. Wires are brown x 2, on...

Re: New Project - 1998 M Roadster
Dad was over last week with some more parts so we managed to get loads done, mostly successful. Starting removing the old loom, trying to photograph as much as possible for correct tracing and routing. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v397/bazhugs/0361FC67-4C11-474C-845C-6426EC274E1D_zpsu2jpvs8x.jp...

Fuel pump M specific?
Good morning folks, During my ongoing project, which I will update soon, we drained the fuel tank and found a very sticky residue at the bottom of it once removed the fuel pump. On testing the pump we've found it's seized solid so I'm asking about replacements. Is the fuel pump specific to the 3.2? ...

Hi Sailorbaz, What part are you in? We're off to a wedding in Athlone Friday and then spending a few days in Donegal and we're driving back to the UK via Strabane and Omagh. Cheers. Nice one, I'm in Cookstown so not so far from Omagh. Could meet you Omagh, but are you going Dungannon then onto M1 t...

Re: Windscreen installation parts
My parts for installing my windscreen should arrive this week but while I'm offshore, I'm doing a bit of reading up on how to install it. Was considering getting a guy in to do it but since my Dad will be helping me, and he had a garage and body shop for 30 years, I think it's something we can deal ...

Re: Parts availability.
I've found www.bmminiparts.co.uk to be excellent at sourcing me Brand new parts at very sensible money and in a very reasonable time frame. For example, I ordered a Windscreen for my Z3 last wednesday and was told today it should be with them tomorrow, and with me early next week. Less than 2 weeks ...

I'm from just outside Moneymore near Cookstown. Jesus, really? I'm Cookstown mate. Small place indeed. You won't have seen my Z3 around (unless on the back of Glenn Allens recovery truck) since it's in a sad state of repair (see another thread) I've an M3 CSL you may have seen about though, or more...

Re: Calling all Northern Irish Z3 owners
Good morning Paul, When I was living in Scotland, I used to attend alot of the BMW meets in various M3's but since moving to NI, I haven't made many meets at all. One with RMS/M3cutters down at Titanic 1/4 a few years ago but that was it, and it's not the lack of meets since I believe there are a fe...

Good afternoon guys, Was looking at REALOEM earlier trying to gather part numbers to order for installing the windscreen in my Z3M come nearer the time. Re: Modules, Coding and keys
Yes, the EWS is the immobiliser. If you replace it you will need to align it to the DME using INPA or DIS. This sounds promising. I have both program's, just need to work out how to use them to align the EWS to the DME. Wish I'd brought that laptop away with me now to have a play. Never mind, Cheers.

Re: Modules, Coding and keys
Thanks for the reply mate, I've managed to find some photos I've taken previously and can see that my ECU/DME should be intact since the plastic box looks perfect. The small EWS box, the white one - what's its function? Is this the immobiliser part? This is the only part of the circuit it would appe...

Re: Modules, Coding and keys
DME... ECU...EWS... Starting to drive me a bit mental, lol I'm trying to get my head round this, which is very difficult in the South Atlantic with no car to look at, other than photos. ECU - Mine is in the Engine bay right? DME - Same as ECU? If not, where is it? EWS - I have the little white modul...

Re: Modules, Coding and keys
Thanks for that mate, that's very good info. Not so good news for me though, not sure the guy who has the donor car will be keen on letting me have a key without taking the locks. Maybe a better idea to get the immobiliser part of the EWS removed after all. So if you need a new EWS, you need to buy ...

Re: Modules, Coding and keys
This is another good result.
This will have the engine details in it such a mileage, service history maybe? If I connect new clocks to this and adjust them to match the ECU, will I still get the 'tamper' dot?
Cheers,
Barry

Re: Modules, Coding and keys
I could probably get the keys but then that would mean the door locks and boot lock also... Food for thought l. I thought I could 'teach' the new EWS the existing key details... I have found a guy from N Scotland who can remove the immobiliser part for me if need be, but of course I'd rather not. BM...

Modules, Coding and keys
Morning guys, As some may know I'm rebuilding a Z3M Roadster after an interior fire. I have to install replacement modules (behind the glovebox) and was wondering if the Main one can be recoded to my engine and my key? I've sourced replacement modules from a salvaged Z3M with the same engine. Item 1...

Re: New Project - 1998 M Roadster
Thing is with buying the new loom direct from BMW (1 of only 2 left in Germany) is it comes with all connectors, including the full Fusebox with all fuses. It should be straight forward enough feeding the cable through as I disconnect the old one. Once the Fusebox is bolted in, the engine bay connec...

New Project - 1998 M Roadster
Some of you may have seen a number of my posts asking questions and looking for some parts. Bloody hell, fantastic response guys, thank you very much. I look forward to getting her out and taking more photos to see where we're actually at. Just a few words lads and lassies to say hello and introduce myself. Managed to prise a low mileage Z3M Roadster out of my dad's hands and bring it home to NI. Hey guys, New to the Z3/M Roadster scene but not BMW. Have had 2 E36 M3's previously and currently own an E46 M3 CSL and an E90 M3. My Dad bought an 1998 Z3M Roadster in Estoril Blue back in 2000 that had suffered a fire under the glovebox. It has since sat in storage and I'm keen to dig it out and ...
