Re: de-carbonising the engine - Wheeler Dealers!

I have no idea what this system is, as I haven't watched this Wheeler Dealers yet (is the one with the Jag?), but if it does anything under pressure it may not be suitable for carb cars - they often don't have the high pressure rated fuel hoses that injected cars have.

Re: Code readers?

I think, and I could be wrong, that you can do more with the round socket under the bonnet than you can with the ODBII connector in the car (if you have one).

It's not a bodge-job, it's supposed to be glued. It's the failure of the glue that makes the seam split open.

Re: Airbag reset needed in Tottehnam

Do we need a sticky where we can post what diags we have available and what area we're in?

I have carsoft up and running (plus DIS installed but currently untested) in the High Wycombe (Bucks) area.

Re: Another roof question

Do you mean where the fabric tucks under the plastic beading around the window? If so, you just need a tube of rubber cement (about £2 from the bicycle puncture repair section in Halfords), run a bead of glue around the edge of the window, and tuck the fabric back under - I used a wallpaper scraper ...

Where did you buy them from, and how much? Sounds like a good idea to me, if they're not too expensive.

Re: 3000 miles from new!

I'm not a big fan of cars like this. The pricing (and I have no idea what the price of this is) always reflects the owner's belief that they are selling a 'new' car, when they aren't. And then they won't believe that things like rubber hoses still need to be replaced due to age. Or that fluid servic...

Could it be a rattle from the cat? When they start to break down they can rattle when hot.

Re: Z3 interior bulb with socket....

I'd try here first:

I bought some bulbs for the dash from them recently, much cheaper than dealer prices.

Re: 1.9 or 2.0

I'd drive both and see what you think. I personally prefer the 4 cylinder engines because I like the characteristics, despite the lower power, but there are plenty of people that would say the opposite. It's true that the 6 cylinder engines sound better. For me, the fun is in the small-car, roof-dow...

Re: corroded bits round the clips that atach the hood to the

Practice on something else, as the finish is determined by how much paint you put on at a time. I also warmed the part of the frame I was painting with a heat gun (being careful not to melt the window or set fire to the roof!) as the finish is also affected by how quickly the solvents in the paint f...

Re: Can I get a cheaper duplicate key?

My understanding of what Timpson do (and this is only my understanding, not from experience) is that they can read the transponder code from your key and programme that into a duplicate, so it should work perfectly. The only possible downside is if you have the scenario where a car has three keys, w...

Re: Code Reader

I have this one (the $46 cable only option): http://carsoftwest.com/services.html Takes a while, as it comes from the USA, and had to pay a small customs charge, but I was 100% certain it would work. Have it running with Carsoft - really easy to install and use. PS, in Buckinghamshire if anyone need...

I had the same problem - very common on aluminium roof frames of all makes. I used this, which gave a perfect texture match:
