The reason brake fluid is changed periodically is because it is hydroscopic (absorbs water). As the water content increases the boiling point of the fluid reduces. When pulling out to overtake on a dual carraigeway or motorway always look in your mirrors first and double check with a look over your shoulder - there is a big blind spot with a rag top!

The oil and filter are about £40 and you can diy it easliy. With the £160 saved take the misses away for a night in a nice hotel. After a romantic dinner you should see how much better she runs with good lubrication. :wink: :wink:

Sounds like you have lost a balance weight off one of the wheels. Take it back in to the get the fronts rebalanced. Should be ok after that.

There must be a case now for upping the national limit on duals and motorways to 80mph. I find that driving at 70mph on motorways more hazardous than going at 80 to 90. On the speed limit one is constantly overtaken and has to be on guard. At 80 going with the flow of traffic life is less stressful....

I think the pressure going into the Vanos is controlled via a 0.5 bar PRV so the pressure will be the same irrespective of oil temperature. I dont know about the oil in the Vanos gears - is it fed from the Vanos? I cant see where else. This could be significant of course. Is there enough oil getting...

Phew its just fired up. My charger was only giving 12.5v but it seems to have done the trick. Its charging at nearly 14v with the engine on. now holding 12.5v with the engine off. The battery indicator is showing black (discharged) and not yellow (goosed). Im happy. Think it needs a good run now :)

Been on charge an hour now still no joy. Wont turn the engine over - measures 5 volts when trying. Is the battery u/s? Only charging at 12.2v maybe my old charger is no good.

Off to work in the Focus now. I was so looking forward to driving the M today :cry:

Zed dead this morning

Car has been in the garage for the last 5 days, apparently with the boot not quite shut :head: Battery completely dead! Its on charge now so im waiting and I hope the battery will recover. I dont think a deep discharge like that is very good for the battery. 30 mins on charge so far but stilll no go...

10W-60 is for the S54. I tried it in my S50 and got Vanos growl with it - didnt get that noise before, or since. Now I have 0W-30 in. I dont know whether you can adjust the hood. You can move the windows inboard a bit loosening the screws underneath the dooors that hold the window guides, and pushing them out a bit. Its also a way to help with leaks too.

Are you sure it isnt just excessive speed? :wink:

Cloz - the site Si posted tells you everything you ned to know (really good BTW - thanks!). It recommends 225 is the max width on a 7.5" rim.
