I rate their own brand engine oil (Triple QX 5W/40 fully syn.). It has the most up-to-date API SN rating (2011) which I have not seen a lot of the other brands move up to yet. Based on PCSAM’s photos, these lens covers give quite a subtle smoky look – I quite like it on a silver car. This would protect the lens surface and appears to negate the need to worry so much about an orange indicator.

Universal Lambdas normally involve cutting/joining wires. These sensors are very low voltage and so can be sensitive to an imperfect join. Personally, I consider myself not very good at joining wires and so I would go for a "direct fit" sensor and pay a bit more. Experiences on this forum ...

Sorry to hear your ongoing problem and trust your garage will sort it. Statistically, OBD codes 170 & 173 crop up commonly with either vacuum leaks for a MAF problem - an air filter choked with leaves would, for example, impact on the MAF. Would be very interested in the cause found.
