Starter motor threaded lug mounts vs non threaded
Hi all. Have an issue that needs resolving. My current starter motor in my 97' Z3 1.9 has a non threaded mounting lugs, whereby the bolts hold in place via a nut and a washer. This style starter has thinner lugs. The starter I have acquired is the newer threaded mounting lugs style which are much th...

Re: Z3 won't rev past 3000rpm
A break in the filter box alone would not usually cause a running problem – people remove standard air filter boxes all the time and fit different “sporty” types. A car would even run without filtering the air although not recommended as any old rubbish, bees and feathers could be sucked into the e...

Re: which oil for a 1.9 1997 z3
Fully synthetic 5W-40 is popular as is 5W-30 which many modern engines use. I have also used Mobil 1 0W-40 which helped cure the cold start (sticky valve lifter) problem that many (not all) M44 engines suffer from - I suspect a slight design fault in the oil-ways. In my view, the engine is otherwis...

doubtful, if its upstream of the maf, then everything that is gaining entry is metered air. I would suspect you have dislodged something else where and un metered air is now entering somewhere.

which oil for a 1.9 1997 z3
hi all, just ordered new oil filter and currently debating which grade oil to go with for my m44 1.9 Z3. I think the original spec is 15w 40? but reading online seems others favour 5w 30? Which oil grade would you all recommend? and how many litres would cover it? 5 litres? Much appreciated if anyon...

tap a smaller socket over them with a hammer, they will go, get them off and change them out for fresh bolts. If they snap, carefully you will be able to pull stat housing etc all off, then there will be bare thread left on display where they have failed, again a 5mm socket hammered onto the thread ...

Anybody had their Z from new?
Yep. Although 'my' Z3 is actually my brother's Z3. A Boston Green 1.9. He had it brand spanking new from Dick Lovett in Swindon on 29 Jan 1999. He ran it as his daily driver until age got the better of it for the daily commute 2 years ago. Because he had it from new and kept it for 15 years he said...

I soaked mine in plus gas etc for days leading up to the job, the two that looked nasty, were the two that let me down! i would put four fresh bolts back for the minor cost.

I've got a working 1.9 starter motor, not sure what car you have? I've tried emailing and calling soft tops in Croydon today, seen a couple of threads them, all very positive. Price wise if it's more than £4/500 then I will sell it as is. So many for sale at hugely different prices yes its the 1.9!...

The silver 1.9 is for breaking, the blue will go on eBay as a running 2.8 track or kit car shell. Minus a few internal and body parts, the red 1.9 is too good to break, has MOT, coilovers and nice body work for its age. Currently debating a new roof then autotrader. There's a black 1.9 in pieces in...

it would take a LOT of water from heater to find its way out as the carpets absorb A LOT of water!!!! carpets always feel dry on top, only underneath are they wet. I suspect you have had a water leak without ever knowing it.
