EPC lists a 400ml aerosol spray for underbonnet and boot. There are 29 colours listed though so I suggest a trip to BMW to get the right match.

Though MR needed some new oil, 4000 miles since last service and Vanos getting a bit noisier at idle. Threads here on oil make me think 10W-60 may make it last a bit longer. I think everyone seems to hate fog lights switched on unecessarily. It makes you wonder why its not self regulating. I think a sensor would be quite difficult to configure. I would be interested to know whether there is an easy way to reset the light. Mine is on at the moment after I messed about with some fuses. The reset tool is about £80 and I may buy one but it wouldnt surprise me if its just a case of shorting 2 pins on the connector.

Any clever people out there??

Car insurance for my lad

My boy passed his test recently on the second attempt and its time for his first car. Can anyone recommend a source of cheap insurance? Cheapest I have seen on tinternet is about £1400 TFFT for a 1.0 Corsa.

I looked at adding him onto the insurance for the MR (for a laugh) and they want £4k :o

Driving on a slope will make hardly any difference - example 1 in 10 slope the GPS will read 0.5% under. Not one to worry about.

It doesnt sound like Vanos failure. Oil loss=broken bottom end, Vanos broke=noise and no power. Sounds like timing chain failure or other parts of the cam drive. Sounds expensive :(

Just got 203 miles out of a tank of V Power till the light came on - mileage includes Dales cruise so well pleased. Got plenty of Joules out of that tank :)

Thanks for the advice guys. I can get the discs skimmed at work for free so may try that as first option. I cant see a problem, there is plenty of meat on the discs and there is no judder so they must be true. They just need a lick on a grinder, maybe 0.2mm off. If they dont come up right I can buy ...

There are lots of threads on here about leaking roofs - you should try a search. It sounds like yours is leaking through the seals above the doors. Make sure you raise the hood with the windows down a bit then raise the windows last. That may sort it.

You will get 20 to 25 mpg out of an M, perhaps over 25 on a long run. Im averaging 24mpg with my S50. I expect this is a lot more than you get i the Griffith. I was thinking of buying a Griffith before I got the Z so I would be interested to know what you get out of it.

Had my M for 3 months now and I agree there is nothing better for the money out there. Thought about a Griffith but glad I got this baby. I cant see me selling it but its nice to know that I can get what I paid for it. £12k for all this is value indeed.
