I had my M Coupe in the garage yesterday to sort out the squeaking clutch pedal. I was loaned a BMW 520 for the day. It had considerable oversteer and a check under the bonnet revealed that it comes fitted with a factory installed front strut brace. The design of this strut is that it is a tubular p...

David,

The fact that they've sent you "my" letter shows the standard of service doesn't it and the way BMW treats us as second-class customers ? :head:

The sooner the independent garages get to threaten the major brands' territory the better.

I've got an S54 M Coupe which I believe is 2.6 times stiffer than the MR. I've fitted StrongStrut's front-strut and butt-strut and the difference to the handling is tremendous, therefore, I would expect any of the Z3s the effect must be VERY noticeable. I notified my Insurance Co that I've fitted th...

I got the reply to my last letter to BMW today, and the transcript is below. I read the response as “f**k off, we don’t care”. If this is to go anywhere, then it needs as many individuals as possible to write to BMW (GB) to show them that there’s more than just one person who feels strongly about th...

Definitely sounds like wheel bearing. I've had this occur on 3 cars previously. The more you drive with this condition the slower the speed the noise will be heard (If that makes sense?)

In the light of comments made on this and the other forums, I have now modified the reply that I am now going to post to BMW (GB). I have therefore edited my posting of 20th October to the final version as sent.
Of course I'll post the reply when/if received.

However due to the reduced engine speed of the M Coupe, our internal testing has confirmed that its engine is not susceptible to the bearing shell wear and consequently, is not necessary for the same action to be taken on M Coupe models. Er - as I speak from personal experience my comment here woul...

I've got an S54 M Coupe, never driven either Boxster or M Roadster, but the M Coupe gets to another level of handling when you fit both a front strutbrace and a butt-strut!

OliZ, I own an S54 M Coupe manufactured in January 2002 and done some 13,500 miles, from what I have read on various threads on ///M related matters, the car lies within a batch of M Coupes manufactured between October 2001 and February 2002, all of which are susceptible to engine failure. I know of...

"///M People" Power

The subject of engine failures with M3 E46 models (including S54 M Coupes and Roadsters) and how BMW is dealing with this problem, worldwide, is a current thread on http://www.z3mcoupe.com/ http://www.zroadster.net/ and http://www.bmwcarclubforum.co.uk and is obviously a "hot" topic affect...

Letting you lot rip around my field at £50 per head could turn out more profitable than holding a car boot sale in the field!

There've been cattle in there for the past few months so you could plaster your cars in genuine bullshit!

M Blur, I don't disagree with much of what you say, but what I do disagree with is the fact that you suggest that the DSC is still reducing the fishtailing on my M Coupe. On the S54 M Coupe, whenever there is intervention by the DSC a little amber light flashes and simultaneously, the throttle is cu...

I have an S54 M Coupe which has DSC as standard. I have fitted a Strong Strut front strut-brace and also the butt-strut. Since fitting these two items, I now find that the DSC hardly ever comes on. The car doesn't "fish-tail" with hard acceleration from a standstill and doesn't roll when c...

Robert Stern of Evesham, Worcestershire

I can recommend Robert Stern of Evesham, they don't always get it right first time, but they don't make you feel as though you are a pain in the 4rse when you tell them to try again! All the staff are normal and there doesn't seem to be any air of "superiority" that some of the BMW dealers...
