philstone Windscreen

Hi although I have never replaced the windscreen on a Z1, I have taken off the painted left and right wind screen surrounds (and door mirrors). I think you should do this as it will make the screen easier to remove. The main garages often use autoglass etc etc to come and change their screens as it ...

So Senna, how much did this conversion cost you all in ? It sounds like a very exciting prospect. I don't think it'd be hard to find a donor M3 engine but I suppose the labour charges would be quite high. I did all the work my self. The donor car was not expensive after I sold all the bits. Put it ...

V8 into a Z1

Wonder if the v8 out of a z8 would fit in a z1.................... It was hard enough getting the straight 6 M3 engine in as the engine bay is quite narrow. Servo is in a stupid position, as is the ECU box on the Z1. Good luck if to the brave person that manages a V8 Z1, my hair went white with thi...

Hi Lee, I don't think I could beat that beautiful monster :D The Z3M should be easy though....a certainty, unless the wind resistance is so low owing to the autoglym used. Bumper Grills

The two center kidney gills are held in with glue/mastic, and if you push the grill at the bottom it will push back and come off. The two lateral grills are held in with clips. They come off if you remove the undertray so that you can get to them from behind.

Easy

Take off the gaitor, take out the ash trays, under them are screws. The hand brake is held on by the two cables, with lock nuts.
Undo these and the handle should be free. Dont forget to release the hand brake light wire.
I just took a wooden one off my M3. and sold it yesterady on ebay.

you should have no difficuty converting the engine in a Z3. I would advise that you buy the engine with the wiring loom/ECU and the exhaust.

I am converting my Z1 with an M3 engine and so far things are going ok.

Let me know how your conversion goes

Can I ask..... if the key is in, and the start button is piggy backed onto the barrel, does that mean that with the engine running, if I accedently touched the button the starter would engage onto a turning ring gear?
As I would love to do this but I am scared if a child (adult) touched the button.
