let me know how you fare. I tested with a can of wd40 just to see if it would work. It did. So then went and bought some spray lithium grease ( bike chain grease ) and blasted it with that, silence.

Ok so took seat out and repaired drivers bolster: Seat had an inch tear in leather, this had to be repaired via a patch underneath the leather which is then glued in place. see below: http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160427/6717b4486ce400dd1841fde70db2d793.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201604...

Most annoying part of all this, I had a spare slip ring, which I changed out, lengthy process, and did not solve the issue. Phoned my friend who used to own an e36 back in the day, he pointed me to this fix, and would you believe it he was 100% spot on with his suggestion. Wish I had called him befo...

Squeaky steering wheel fix ( read this )
Hi all, Steering wheel squeaking? Its not the slip ring or anything behind the wheel itself. Simplest fix I have ever carried out. Open bonnet, on drivers side look to back of bulk head, and find this ( steering rack lower bearing joint ) http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160427/4607ffd0fd907860f01e...

ok thanks for advice Southern boy. Right next job solved ( squeaky steering wheel )and took less than 30 seconds to fix. eurocarparts stat here, £23 and doing the job nicely. For that money you cant moan if it lasts only two to three years.
Put fresh bolts in when I replaced mine. Would 100% recommend anyone to do this, to make life easier the next time around.

for anyone interested, called dealers today, part number southern boy given me is matching the part number of bolts that are currently in the car with the non threaded starter motor, therefore I am guessing they will be suitable for the threaded starter also.
