Re: Wing mirror removal. Can i do it without removing door

Brian, Not sure what you are referring to - but once the mirror is removed and the plastic clams of the mirror assembly are removed, you have access to the two hex screws. When one then removes the electrical connections to the mirror motor (no cutting involved) - it may be a good idea to tie a knot...

The original engine....just note it's km and not miles....but still respectable.
It's driving great (albeit loosing 250cc of water for every 1000km - from what I'm guessing is hairline crack in the head ...and prefer to live with it for now :shrug )

In case anyone is looking to fit Bosch Aerotwin wipers to a LHD - I found that for some reason to fit properly I needed one 18" and one 19". (and not 19" and 20" as has been recommended here for RHD).
So far (24hrs) they look and sound good.

If it's just a few drops the best solution is to take some Hydrophobic spray - usually used for waterproofing fabric (eg clothing, tents or roofs). I think you are referring to the lower metal tab at the lower end of te handle that is set into the handle. I have never seen one of those tabs break off the handle and this is a bigger problem.

Telltale sign of missing gas (or weak compressor which is hard to imagine in the UK due to low usage) is if in hot weather the temp of the air from the vents is higher when the car is idling compared to when driving.

My sums are right. I suspect you are using a superior fuel and mine is automatic. Some have had similar numbers to mine and others to you. I recently bumped into a local Z owner who also has a M44 1.9L Auto, who drives mostly inter-city and he gets 11km/l - so it all makes sense.
