Amsterdam Cruise and Meet.

Post by TaffZee »

Hello again, I was thinking about getting another cruise going:

I was thinking about a cruise to Amsterdam in October.
Perhaps meeting with Zedders from across the water for the day.
Anyone interested?

We can get a mini cruise from Hull to Rotterdam for around £72.00 per car, £84.00 for an upgraded cabin (outside).
Leave On Friday 15th October at 21:00. Arrive Rotterdam 08:00 on Saturday, ( this cruise is not showing on the P&O website yet but should show very soon).
It would be nice to meet on route to Amsterday any Zedders from across the water.
Into Amsterdam Lunch and a Canal cruise and a look around the shops. Back to Rotterdam for 18:30 Arrive in Hull at 08:00 Sunday morning.

Let me know if your interested in going.

Anyone across the water if you would like to meet on the day and perhaps give us a tour of Amsterdam let me know.

We done this trip last March and really enjoyed it.

Confirmned:

Yep, I am up for this (if I don't have to work)

I suggest parking at Schiphol (Amsterdam) airport, and getting the train to the center.
This way, you will not get stuck in traffic and have to find parking in Amsterdam, as they are busy tunneling for the new underground.
Also, you will be straight back onto the motorway to get back down to Rotterdam.

Hook of Holland, The Netherlands

62.1 km- about 54 mins
1. Head southeast on Prins Hendrikstraat toward Kleine Schoolstraat 0.7 km
2. Continue onto Prins Hendrikweg 0.7 km
3. Turn left at Haakweg 1.3 km
4. Slight right at Nieuwelaan 1.1 km
5. Turn left at Maasdijk/N220 0.2 km
6. Take the 1st right onto Woutersweg/N467 (signs for 's-Gravenzande) 0.7 km
7. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Naaldwijkseweg/N467
Continue to follow N467 2.4 km
8. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Kruisbroekweg/N466
Continue to follow N466
Go through 1 roundabout 2.3 km
9. Turn right at Veilingroute/N222
Go through 3 roundabouts 5.3 km
10. Turn right at Wippolderlaan/E30/N211
Continue to follow E30 1.9 km
11. Slight right to merge onto A4 44.1 km
12. Take exit 2-Luchthaven Schiphol toward Ceintuurbaan-Zuid 0.8 km
13. Keep left at the fork to continue toward Ceintuurbaan-Zuid and merge onto Ceintuurbaan-Zuid 0.5 km

Thinking out loud here, ladies and gentlemen.

Would it not be a good idea for interested party's to come over here for a cruise already organized by the Dutch Z3 forum site members?
I would be more than willing to help out sorting out hotel accommodation, etc.

Sleep on it.

Meeting you lot was an afterthought :D

If Taffzee doesn't want to organise this I might be prepared to take it over, however, we can't sail on a friday for anywhere near the prices he has quoted.

P&O do have a 2-4-1 offer on at the moment for this mini cruise but to get the £74 price we would have to go Monday to Wednesday. Friday sailings are over £200.

Is anyone still interested if it's Monday to Wednesday?

It's not that I dont want to organise it, only one interested, but no one confirmed.

We went in March this year on a Friday for £84.00 (outside cabin), but this was booked only 2 days before. I Have checked again (prices were not available for October when I first posted) and you are correct they want £200+. So good luck.

When I looked on Sunday the 15th Oct was available at £79 for car+2
Meals and upgraded accommodation took the price higher.
Today's price is £181 which makes for an expensive weekend
Perhaps you need to be the very early bird to catch the lowest prices.
Shame really because it could have been interesting.

Titan, I agree, its silly money for a weekend, and you will have accommodation, petrol etc on top.

By the way, the cheapest option I could find :-

http://www.eurotunnel1.com/direct/booking/fare.asp

But its approx. 4 hour drive from Calais to Amsterdam.

Maybe look at this again in the spring :?: when prices are cheaper. I was looking forward to it as it would be a good option to have a bit of a get together on the boat as well as spending the day cruising around Amsterdam. but it was a bit slow getting people interested :head: . . would still like to do this but the weekend option would be better than the weekday. I will revive this thread again early next year. :drive

Not to worry Taff
Nothing ventured, nothing gained etc.
We just need to get smarter on grabbing the low prices as soon as they are released :P

I must be misreading your inital post then. It looks to me like you had 5 cars confirmed (including you and me) with Titan listed as interested. But I agree that £200+ is too much to pay for about 6 hours in Amsterdam.

I'll keep my eye out for the repost in the spring.
