Hardknott/Wrynose re-visited Saturday 15th June 2013

Post by snoops »

Bill and Jean - Zed Carer and his lovely wife - are coming over to the lakes on Saturday the 15th of June to have a days run out in the Lakes with myself and Seasurfer, taking in Hardknot and Wrynose and anywhere else that takes our fancy. It will be a circular route (of a fashion) starting and finishing so my co-pilot can pick her car back up.

It will be a cruise to enjoy the scenery with stop off points along the way to sample the best tea and cakes the Lakes have to offer and is likely to last most of the day, usually getting back to Lower Sizergh to have a coffee and natter before we part company.

Bill and Jean will be staying over on the Saturday night in the area - B & B to be confirmed so anyone else who may want to come and fancies the stopover - PM Bill.

Anyone else for a run out in stunning scenery - we've ordered the sun so hopefully tops down all the way :D

MEET UP INFO

Meeting at LOWER SIZERGH for tea and toast and to pick up my co-pilot 09:15 - 09:30

Then off following Bills route, which may be planned'ish, we just might make it up as we go along 8-) or we may just go wherever the wind blows us around the lakes ...happy days.

Oh pants. You would choose the Pageant of Power weekend, wouldn't you! That would have been a nice run out for me as my folks live only a few miles from the meeting point. Another weekend and I might have made it this time! :(

Hi snoops, have just returned from a couple of days at Newby Bridge and really enjoyed the scenery in the Lakes. Would love to join you on the 15th June for a drive round. Hope you're serious about the sun as we didn't see much while we were there. That's why it's called the Lake District. :)

I managed to eat some dodgy cooked meat and ended up confined to the house eating yoghurt and toast for a week and missed out on Hardknott and Wrynose. Then some (kind) people just kept posting photos of the food so I could see what I was missing!

It was lovely to have a fellow zed enthusiast sat at the side of me rather than an empty seat or someone just politely nodding at my enthusiasm because he likes his TT much more. My indulgence of all things zed is understood and supported but not really shared..... Looking forward to Gills company again :D and hopefully she is looking forward to my new purchase for the trip... No it's not a blanket Gill :D

I may be able to make this one now, as I still don't have a frog with an engine in it to do the pageant.

If it doesn't get put back together next week, then I will likely be coming up to my folks' for Father's Day.

I will confirm during the week.

Frog is still engineless (or should that be engine is still frogless), so no visit to Cholmondeley Castle for me. :(

The good news is that I can definitely make this now. :)

Looking forward to it and praying that the weather is not the usual fare for Cholmondeley weekend (i.e. cats and dogs and mud three feet deep).

One thing to watch out for is that it is the Great North Swim on Windermere the whole weekend, so expect extra traffic on the roads and possibly extra traffic heading up the M6 to the Lakes.

Just try to avoid Ambleside, particularly Waterhead and Low Wood, or we may have to swim for it.

I know quite a lot of the roads round there, but not the bit from Broughton to Eskdale and over Hardknott. I've been over Wrynose and along Wrynose Bottom a few years back.

Should be quite a good test for my new handbrake shoes. :D
