hope someone can help, what is the compartment between the hoops? i cant seem to open it just wondered what it was cheers guys

It is either a storage box or the subwoofer enclosure depending upon what stereo setup you have in your car. If you have the Harmon-Kardon speaker setup, then there is a subwoofer under there and the lid does not open. If you don't then the button with the upward facing arrow next to the keyhole opens it.

thats a shame the subwoofer sounding a bit tired and buzzy, would like to replace it? so no chance of getting into it?
