Poor radio reception

Even with the standard twisty aerial, radio reception is not that great. Is this normal? I have an aftermarket head unit, so is there a radio amp that needs powering up, or does it just suck?

I have the same problem, I would be better off using a wooden coathanger.

After Experiencing Taffzees driving on the recent cruise might i suggest
slow down a touch ,give the radio waves a chance to catch up.

Either you don't have power to the aerial amplifier, or you have a bad connection - either broken core or core shorting to sheath.

Same problem here - I sometimes have to switch to CD while listening to the radio, there's just too much annoying static, even in the city centre. No idea what the problem could be, my Zed's also got some aftermarket unit and some other audiomods I didn't even ask the previous owner about, because he himself wouldn't probably know. The aerial seems to be in a good condition, so I don't know what to do about it.
