new owner of z3, confused about what speakers are needed???

Post by tza29 »

First of all hello everyone, i found a lot of helpful info on this site before purchasing my z3 2.8 in artic silver.. just got back from first drive out and about town, unbeliveble car, lots of fun, great power and sound.

Anyway, my talents are not related to sound systems but i have realised i have speakers behind the seats, the door panels and near the footwells..

Was wondering if anyone could tell me the speaker sizes, and possibly suggest what speakers will produce a decent sound??

ive recently upgraded my speakers as the standard ones are poor (in my opinion) you can fit 5 1/2 in the front, buy a decent set of component speakers (seperate tweeter for the door) and forget the rears, they are not worth the effort (trust me i spent days experimenting putting rear speakers) although i have managed it, its not worth all the hard work!!

I've recently installed Focal 130KP's which have improved things dramatically. To get the most out of fronts you really need to amp them seperately. I've just added an update to my thread with my audio upgrade:

I agree with james's comments regarding the rears
