Z3 Sub Woofer

Post by kevybz3 »

Hi,

Has anyone fitted one of these sub woofers (all in one) that are in a slim ish box. I'm not convinced it will fit behind the seat, do they fit anywhere else?

Cheers

Gookah has just fitted the blaukpunkt active one to his Z4 and it sounds great. It fits perfectly under his seat, I tried it in mine and it wouldn't fit right underneath but it could go behind the seat as long as the seat is not all the way back. It may go under sideways but I think the seat would need to be quite high.

Its one of my next mods so I can get rid of the subwoofer in the boot as the bass is deadened when the roof is down but sounds great when the roof is up. Trouble is the roof tends to be down more times than up on my zed and I have hardly any boot space at the moment

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

What depth and level of bass does the slim unit achieve? I'm tempted by that! Is it amped?

ebay item 140495253436

I'm no exspert but I think it sounds really good, had to turn it down. runs off speaker wires or two phono plugs from the head unit. (I used phono)

Needs power from the battery which was a pain

Works a hell of a lot better than the HK unit I had in my Z3. and is worth every penny. No its not Focal or Bose or any other super snobby hi-fi setup, but its only £99. It gives enough bass to even turn heads (not that that is the primary reason) and deepens the sound nicely. Not as punchy as the 12" one I had in the boot, but this means I have a useable boot, and some nice bass that doesnt deaden when the roof is down like the boot mounted options.
Put on Boom Boom Pow, turn it up, and it does exactly as it says on the tin.

Have you got any pictures of it installed and did you fit it behind the seat or in the actual foot well?

I've got one that I'm fitting very soon would be good to see where you've located it as I don't think it will go under my seat. I will be installing it just behind the drivers seat.

I'm not speaking to you, muppet! When I was posting you hadn't replied but when I submitted the message, your post appeared.

Oh and what was it like to drive a proper zed today? :roflmao:

Personally, I wouldnt wedge it behind the seat, it has to be too far forward and looks a bit odd, appart from getting it nicked

i have a clarion srv314 slim Sub behind my seat. Not fantastic but gives a deeper sound than standard. it comes with a small remote control to alter the response for different music types.
with it behind the seat you get the vibe through back / bum which is rather nice :D

I looked at that option and it won't fit. Put it in the passenger footwell you won't know it's there.

Does anyone know if there are any active subs slim enough to fit under the seats in a Z3M? (I presume the clearance might be different due to the seat motors etc?)

These are definitely to big to go under M seats, don't know about any others though.

I've managed to squeeze mine behind the seat and can get the seat far enough back so that I am comfortable. But then again I only have short legs, taller people will struggle
