Both PN and I have tracker modules - they are located behind the glovebox - ours are not activated though - it is a small box - about the size of two DVD cases on top of each other

Is the Tracker a "real" tracker?

Can you confirm its activated by the central station if you report it stolen?

What do you mean by "not activated"? - I assume its remotley signalled...

meaning I have not paid the subscription for the unit - so it is dormant - so Tracker HQ told me - they confirmed that if I was to pay the subscription - they could start the service remotely - my money says that the unit transmits home all the time - they are just ignoring it since we dont have the subscription activated

Hmmm... interesting to see if anyone answers....

I have been looking for info on the later alarm system for a while... no luck!

Its quite a different beastie from the earlier one...

Anyone fitted a tracker to a late z3!?!?!?

The Tracker unit is activated by the central station - it has a pager receiver unit in the box, and when activated by Tracker transmits a radio signal which is detected by crude direction finding systems fitted into certain police cars (area cars I think).

So the unit is not transmitting all the time, only when activated by Tracker control - which they won't do if you didn't pay!

Thanks Simon - if anyone knew, it'd be you, somewhat similar to my thoughts - with the exception of always on transmitting - thanks for the clarification

Not forgetting the trackers that monitor themselves and inform central that they think they have been nicked!!. Then central confirm to you if it has and then activate the radio signal. Some have GPS positioning also to get a even quicker location.
