Amplifier install

Post by hannanp »

Hi

Have any of you installed an amplifier in the boot of your Z3. I'm planning to install a JL Audio 300/4 (and Phoenix Gold equaliser) and can't decide how to do it yet. Options seem to be:

1. On the bulkhead slope, next to the boot light
2. Some kind of vertical build across the width of the boot with the amp mounted onto/into it
3. A false boot floor.

Any thoughts ideas would be appreciated. Also, any idea where i can get some of the same arpet as used in the boot?

Thanks

Hi .... I just ended up mounting it flat on the floor under where the cd changer once was...

I have seen a bit of ply being stuck up to the bulkhead in the boot under the carpet and the amp mounted to that... looked ok....

Under the cd changer seems ok, as its wasted space anyway...

As for other carpet - the BMW stuff is real expensive - my carpet is grey and an ok match would be "findable" in the likes of Carpet Wright... or one of these places... Other than that, car hifi shops sell grey carpet for sub boxes so you coudl try that.
