steering wheel front cover removal

Post by z3lowey »

Evenin' guys,

Trying to remove the front, lower, part of my steering wheel so I can fit a "matt chrome" piece.

Can't see the type of screws at the back (if any!) my eyes are old (and tired) and I can't find the torch either :head:

Anybody help me out while I start on the ale?

As I know, you just have to pull it out with force.

I'll have a look around the site for a pic...

It's the 3-spoke type, the part below the centre/badge is black on mine, I've seen some in matt chrome and would like to change - providing it's fairly straightforward!

The removal requires the airbag to be removed -which means first disconnect the battery - the airbag is removed with a flat screw driver inserted into the 2 holes on the horizontal arms. There is a spring on each side which the airbag hooks onto.
Once you have that out, you will need a torx tool drive to undo the screws holding the cover on the inside, and then there are 2 screws - one at the back of each of the 2 arms just above the rim of the steering wheel.
