Re: z3 carbon fiber console
I have just had my console done exactly like that here in Johannesburg....It cost me £.24.00 !!
If you take postage into consideration aprox £.10.00 here and back.......might be worth sending parts here to be done.
The website here is www.coat-it.co.za
Have a look see.

Re: z3 carbon fiber console
I could be wrong 'southern boy' but its real carbon fiber not stick on vinyl - don't quote me on that though, if it isn't I would definately try wrapping it yourself (like you)

Re: z3 carbon fiber console
This is not a "stick on thing".......
These guys use a printed "transfer" which is soaked in water, and then applied to the base object. It is then dried, and coated with 5 caots of clear Auto-laquer and baked. The end result is a hard finish which is comparable to the painted surface of your car body. I have also had my intake manifold done... Ian Linnet has some pics of it which I sent him. He supplied the manifold and the BB Throttle Body etc. Looks a million..and is weather / heat resistant etc etc.
This is a permanent finish versus the "carbon wrap" type stuff.

Got there in the end and it was worth the effort- that stuff looks amazing. I wonder if anyone is looking to set up doing something similar in the UK? I would use them a lot.

If you're really interested, I can get the full story about suppliers, equipment etc. Maybe something that you can set up there ???

Re: z3 carbon fiber console
From what I have seen in their "work" area, it about as clean and sterile as an operating theatre in a hospital... And it seems it's a real easy thing to do, if a little time consuming...
The guys at Coat-it that did my stuff also apply it to Mag rims etc etc.

Thanks- details would be of interest- would be good to know what's involved...
Re: z3 carbon fiber console
Just been relisted and a decent price if genuine ACS, I would snap this up in an instant if it fitted the Zed
Tim.

Re: z3 carbon fiber console
The postage from UK to South Africa is prohibitively expensive from a quick bit of research. Sending the centre console would likely be £75+ one way!

Re: z3 carbon fiber console
Try using your regular pastal service. I sent a pair of wing mirrors to poland and it cost me £10.00. The mirrors are a few Kg more than the console pieces. I would guess the two console pieces are no more than one kg. Check it out.
Re: z3 carbon fiber console
Its much cheaper assuming it is very light, and you don't track it.
Anyone any idea what the rough dimensions of the centre console are?

Re: z3 carbon fiber console
I'm refering to the two pieces that make up the area which accommodates the radio, switches, etc and surrounds the gear lever. I hope you are not thinking entire console??
Re: z3 carbon fiber console
I meant the centre console as in the ACS part in the eBay link.

Re: z3 carbon fiber console
Then wer're on the same page. The item is in two parts. So if you place one on top the other they're almost identical in square size and once packaged sould fit onto an A4 size sheet in square area. By about 50mm thick - with packaging. It's really a small parcel.
