SOLD Z3 2.8 ///M style quad exhaust (pre-facelift)
SOLD Z3 2.8 ///M style quad exhaust (pre-facelift)
UPDATED POST: Recently (2 months old) had a cat back made for my pre-facelift 2.8 which has quad tips, and a new downpipe/main cat section too.
Thinking of a change in direction with the car, or possibly selling, so looking to return to stockish . Whole lot cost me £700 (£500 cat back plus cat and fitting) only two months ago and would like to claw some of this back, but expect a loss so a bargain for someone
Can either do cat back for £325 with a usable exhaust in exchange, or £425 with no exhaust swap
or
manifold back including a usable system for £425, or £525 no swaps.
No need to swap bumpers, as I have sourced another cosmos black bumper if no one wants to swap, and happy to cut their own bumper to fit the other tip (30 min job, taking your time to make a template etc)
This may also fit other models, 2.8 facelift (cat sections are different, but cat back might be same?) and maybe other engine sizes, please can someone confirm?
The cat back is the flange type, and bolts onto the cat section (not slip on type), as the cat back was made to fit the non oem (pattern) cat section, would recommend a exhaust shop to fit it incase there are any differences, either way a very simple task
Located in Southampton.
Anyone interested? Up for offers
Also going to put up and wanted post for a stock/ish cat back so if i get that, there is no need for swaps

Re: Z3 2.8 ///M style quad exhaust (testing the water)
sure, looking to return car to stock to possibly sell in near future as i fancy a 3.0 z4PCSAM wrote:can we ask the reason for getting rid of the quad setup
its a lovely well made system, sounds great and helps the 2.8 breathe as it should, recent job change etc means i can afford a z4 in a few months.
Re: Z3 2.8 ///M style quad exhaust (testing the water)
would it not be a selling point for the car having a full quad stainless system ...(i know some people like stock ) i recently sold a 1.9 with twin stainless system (not quad)
im thinking of getting quad one made for my 3.0i

Re: Z3 2.8 ///M style quad exhaust (testing the water)
depends on the person buying as you say, i know i'd lose a bit of £ this way, but i think will open car up to more buyers. also. i may not sell car, might do something a bit crazy and turn it into a project, which the current system would not fit the route of z4 or project is open, returning to stock for a clean base or sale seems to make sensePCSAM wrote:would it not be a selling point for the car having a full quad stainless system ...(i know some people like stock ) i recently sold a 1.9 with twin stainless system (not quad)

Re: Z3 2.8 ///M style quad exhaust (testing the water)
It nuts but it actually usually devalues cars that have mods on them. People tend to like to buy cars that they think havent been messed about with...not every one is an enthusiast or has mechanical knowledge. Infact some folk will try to take the price of returning a car to oem of the asking price. Im not in that camp if the mod is a good one..but i can see where they are coming from.

Pics from the build day. Also has extra silencer after cat now
Re: Z3 2.8 ///M style quad exhaust (testing the water)
Will it pass emissions mot without the cat on it?
Re: Z3 2.8 ///M style quad exhaust (testing the water)
couldnt say either way, i'd guess no, as unless your engine is very very very healthy then you need some form of cathuntert wrote:Will it pass emissions mot without the cat on it?
Re: Z3 2.8 ///M style quad exhaust (testing the water)
Thought I'd add, can split into just cat back swap if anyone interested. And would consider non stock, just would have to be as close to stock as possible
Re: Z3 2.8 ///M style quad exhaust (testing the water)
hi all,
i know that the front section/downpipe change with the change in engine from the m52b28 to the m52b28tu, but does anyone know if the rear section the same from the flange behind the cat?
i.e. this is a guaranteed fit on m52b28 engines, but will it fit facelifts?
bumper swaps is ideal, but not a necessity, i have sourced a bumper if needed, so its doesnt have to factor into a swap, so can either manifold back or cat back swap

Re: FOR SALE Z3 2.8 ///M style quad exhaust (pre-facelift)
bump, still available if anyone interested?
technically this will fit all z3's apart from M, just needs modifying to fit with an exhaust place
also putting up a wanted post for stock system, so no swaps needed if i get one
