Help required for my ///M

Post by Althulas »

I have posted up previously that I had engine failure with my //M. Damage was a knackered big end so after sourcing a replacement crank, con-rod new shells/big ends, ARP bolts the oil pump has found to be the likely culprit. I need a new oil pump but the bill is climbing; so I'm on the lookout for a oil pump preferably the upgraded one part number 11417838123. appreciate if anyone can give me a heads up or leads.

Cheers Mark.

Cheers Dave, it's the original version of the pump. The dilemma is either to buy this a new item or go for another one which is second hand but is a newer model but not the latest revision. Any views chaps?

I found a technical bit of info about s54b32 engines while searching for oil pumps which might be of interest to s54 owners http://www.zpost.com/forums/attachment. ... 1370139189

There's an oil pump going and specified for Z3 M from the USA (prussianmotors) $50.00 ex shipping...there are others, but none with the part number you have given...they vary from $225 - $ 413....
Have a look on eBay - USA.
Also have a look under e36 M3 and also e46 M3 The e36 M3 was also fitted with the S50/52 motors and the e46 M3 was also fitted with the M54 motor - they're all the same parts as for the Z3

That yank one was for a b30 motor so no good but thanks for the thought. I had a brouse on DE eBay too but not much price difference. My engine builder wants to go for the latest one from BMW but on top of everything else an extra £500 quid is a bit to much for now so Proberly the new original pump for now and replace with the latest revision within 30,000 miles.

Decided on buying the one Dave found, cheers for the heads up.

Well I've had it back for 2/52 now and its running sweet as a nut but I should think so for the final garage tally shy of £3800 inc Vat. I have the original running in sticker on the window screen which I thought was a set of generous parameters for the first 1200 miles of max rpm 5500 or no faster than 107 miles per hour but I've been sticking to 2000-3000 rpm 50-60 mph for the moment and will increase after a 1000 miles. I'll put it in for a oil and filter change at 2000 miles when its fully run in.

Hope you have better luck with this engine. Running in limits do seem a bit generous!
