For Sale: BMW Individual Z3 2.2 2001

Post by BimBeema »

Hello all,

Long term member here, from 2005 though I haven't been on here for a long while due to other interests, mainly my now 4 year old little one. After 10.5 years of absolutely brilliant motoring & many happy memories time has unfortunately come to part with the Zed so I thought I'd give the good folks on here a shout in case anyone is interested/looking.

The Zed is a 2001 Y reg 2.2 of the BMW Individual variant (of which there was only 270 or so ever produced I believe) with metallic Sapphire black body, red hood & 2 tone black & red ///M sport seats. In addition includes 2 tone red & black M sport steering wheel, Storm solid steel short shift gear knob (weighs approx 0.5kg) M aluminium pedal set, Electric Power hood, air con, heated & electric seats, electric door mirrors. 17" multi spoke alloys, red painted brake callipers to match the hood, strut bar, bmw aerodynamic package boot spoiler, angel eyes (3 rings working, 1 has failed unfortunately), original BMW chrome tipped kidney grills (not the cheap all-chrome plasticky ones off eBay). Has had the rear plastic screen professionally replaced in 2012, replaced Camshaft sensor, replaced thermostat, replaced fan belts, replaced both front springs, replaced both front discs, replaced battery, just MOT'd for another year (exp 29/9/15), full service history: main dealer service history up until last service which was done by a BMW specialist, which was inspection 2 in Nov 2013, so spark plugs have also been changed. Currently has 2 green bars left on the service indicator. Coolant replaced recently when replacing thermostat. 3 owners inc myself (10.5 years I've had it, lady owner had it for just under 3 years & BMW were the 1st owner from new). Just over 81K miles on the clock, so low miles for its age, runs like clockwork, starts first time, etc, etc. all the original books, 2 sets of keys.

Dealers have offered me £3K for it as part ex. I think it's worth more than that just by looking at what's on auto trader for similar year/mileage let alone it being an individual model & all the extras. If it goes to dealers for that much, it will go as stock & I will remove all the extras that I can & sell separately so keep an eye out even if you're not interested in the actual car.

However if someone on here is interested or looking for one with genuine history I'd be more happy to see it go to a Zed enthusiast & keep it in the "family" for £4k-£4,500. However for that price in addition to everything listed above I will throw in the following extras:

- hard top
- hard top brackets/fitting kit
- hard top rear screen demister button & wiring loom
- original BMW wind deflector
- tonneau cover
- a pair of cup holders for driver & passenger side, only available from U.S, fits in the door pockets
- leather arm rest, only available from U.S, fits in the centre console & is removeable
- magnetic stone guards for the rear wheel arches
- bee sting antenna

It'll be going to dealers for part ex either this weekend or next latest. PM me with an offer if you're interested.

Cheers for looking/reading.

Hi everyone,

For those that have PM'ed me, for some reason some of my replies are sitting in the "outbox" and not being sent out so apologies for that. The sent box is not full either so I'm not sure what the problem might be.

Having not been on the forum for some time it seems to have bene updated and I seem to be having an issue attaching pics of the Zed to this thread or to my replies to the PMs. Please PM me again with your email address and I'll forward the pics to your email.

I hope this doesn't contravene the forum policy.

Thanks
Sam

As far as I'm aware, on this forum when you send a PM it sits in the "Outbox" until the recipient has read it. Think of it simply as an unread folder ;)

Hi Sam. Long time no hear. Hope you are well. Sorry to see that you're selling your zed. Certainly a good buy for someone.

Although the forum software has been upgraded, it still works the same. It still isn't Outlook, so mail stays in you Outbox until the recipient logs in/reads it. Microsoft have a lot to answer for with that one!

If you are referring to the usual "the board quota has been reached" when adding attachments, then that has been the case as far back as I can remember - we just don't have the storage space to host everyone's images - to post pictures on the forum, you need to host them elsewhere - all explained in this thread, which is permalinked at the top of every section.

No problem with emailing pics (this is not ebay, you have to trade outside the site anyway), but you may now find it easier to put the pics in your ad (using the above link).

Cheers R.

Don't do it, Sam! :o

Seriously, I understand how times/priorities can change.

Everyone, this is a great little original unmolested Zed meticulously maintained by a real enthusiast and long-standing member of this forum. Someone needs to buy this car. Not too many mint Sapphire Black edition 2.2s about. Maybe someone with a 1.8 or 1.9 is looking for a little more poke and the delights of a silky smooth 6 pot. If so, this could be the car for you.

Good luck with the sale, Sam - and good to see you are still around zroadster!

Rob/Conor;

Thank you for the kind words. I've tried to hold on to the Zed for as long as possible & have thoroughly enjoyed owning it - it's been a member of the family, however my work location has changed for the last couple of years and I now commute to work with the Zed, approx. 50m a day so looking for something a bit more refined, a bit more practical than 2 seats & with more space in the boot to go with it whilst being more economical so I've opted for the 640D Convertible :D :D :D I told the missus it has 4 seats as opposed to 2 & a bigger boot therefore more practical, it's more economical being diesel even though its a 3.0L engine, is more refined and yet is still a convertible that the 3 of us can all enjoy instead of the 2 seats in the Zed so it ticked all the boxes!

Even though I've not been active on the forum for a while I've still popped on here whenever I needed some help and 10/10 times have found what I was looking for, whether it be a misfiring issue (camshaft sensor replacement) or heater not working (thermostat replacement). I can honestly say this forum is a godsend and is nothing short of astonishing with the amount of knowledge on here so a big big thank you must go out to all you guys for everything you put into it.

As for the Zed, I'll be really sorry to see it go. I even contemplated keeping it as a weekend car and buying a run around instead but with already having another family car too, couldn't justify 3 cars and the upkeep that goes with it & plus I also wanted all the new toys after 10.5 years driving the Zed which I wouldn't have got in a run around :)

I hear you, Sam - 3 cars to maintain is costly; however when the Zed goes I'm glad to hear you'll still be driving a soft top! Good luck with the 6er and don't be a stranger!

cheers mate
