NEW Z3 STUFF FOR 2015
After some considerable effort and trial, I have finally managed to resolve the gearshift surround issue for the non M cars.... I am aiming at having these ready for Feb 2015. The M version is a chromed finish, and so will these be in chrome and brushed aluminium. I don't have a price as yet, but will post as and when I can...
(The chromed one in the pic is from the M version)

Hi,
Would the aluminum be the brushed type that would match that in my 3.0i sport.
Thanks

Thanks James....I don't have a problem with the design at all... I'm now at the stage where I have a 3D printed item which is being finished so it will act as the master for mould making next week... I don't think those are available from what I can find.......??
Seems it was once available from Simoni Racing....Their website says the item is no longer available.....how long ago did you get it?

Hi Barry
It was probably 3 years ago and I bought it off Ebay I think at the time.
I guess the seller may have had it a while too.
Its a nice finishing touch for the non M Zeds.
Regards

Yep it is......The ones I will be making here will be cast in metal and chrome plated.. There's really only one way for it to fit and still allow for the electric window switches.... I did check on Simoni's website and they list it NLA. I guess the Z3's are becoming fewer and of those it's not everyone's taste or they really don't have any real interest in Z3's ....
Re: NEW Z3 STUFF FOR 2015
Hi Barry
That item was metal and was very heavy. Its like most aftermarket modification parts, they tend to have a limited run and then the cars become older and fewer and are years out of production...that's where people like you come in to offer bespoke products to the Z3 community.
I loved searching out rare parts for my car and amassed a decent collection over 8 or so years.
Keep up the good work.

Re: NEW Z3 STUFF FOR 2015
Thanks again James... I'm told the metal they want to cast it in is a copper / tin alloy (sounds like bronze to me) Anyhow, I'm also told it won't be very heavy and considering the design I made, it isn't more than 2mm thick at any point other than the crest of the top where the screws go through, an that is just under 3mm. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Re: NEW Z3 STUFF FOR 2015
Installation shouldn't take more than around 5 - 10 mins..... Just 8 small holes to drill, fit the screws and that's it done. Just as an assurance, the holes to be drilled do not go into the actual facia of the console.. they actually go into the plastic insert which clips into the hole in the console, and to which the leather boot is fixed. It's really very easy, and removable if you ever want to sell the car and retain the part for a new Z3 or even to sell on to someone else.
