I'm keeping an eye out for the same myself as a source of spares for my project.

The reality is very few facelift cars come up in this category. £500-£1000 (which is what I interpret as cheap) cars tend to all be pre-facelift. Facelifts are uncommon below £2,000 though that's for a viable runner. As I say, cheap basket cases are few and far between.

Oh no. Looks like one of those trendy app only things for your phone that only kids understand  Actually no space on my iPhone currently for new apps as I've got so many plus all the pictures from my 2.2 project. Could you copy the details up onto here?

Seems like a bargain. I wonder what the catch is?

Not for me though as I want a black interior. And for it to be a Sport.

Happy with a write-off to keep the cost down to that sort of level though.

This one looks pretty good, just high mileage but looks a decent breaker. Sports seats, roll hoops etc

You sir are a bit of a hero especially as I'm in Swindon and so is the car by the looks of it. Lets hope I get it - just texted him at 11 o'clock at night

If I get it I won't be breaking it. But it will have its seats and roll bars liberated. Then put back out for sale. I can't break a car that decent looking - unless it's not as good as it seems.

I immediately thought of you when I saw it, as it looks topaz and you could maybe use some of the panels if you still have some to source. And the fact it has sports seats I knew you would probably snap it up even if you put it a pair of normal seats and flog it on. Didn't know it was in Swindon and is just around the corner from you what a bonus. It must be rough around the edges for that price, unless its priced accordingly just because its a high mileage car but surely it would fetch more as a breaker if its half decent.

Something a bit iffy. Texted and rung and was told the seller is 'away'. Why leave a mobile phone with someone else? Especially a trade seller. And the person who answers just says "hello" not Bob's Cars etc.

Me neither. Feeling quite grumpy about it in fact as it was an excellent spot by you. I trawl ebay daily, gumtree every few days and Autotrader maybe once a week so I'd missed it myself.

Now the very pleased owner of this car as my next project. Again rescued from being dismantled as the engine has seized. Otherwise it's a nice car. Check the Sport seats out - now in the Terd-Mobile project car (MOT today). He has been christened Okus (we do the number plate naming game) :)

This 2.0 went through last night at £1,340 which I thought was cheap. It ought to be worth nearer twice that with the small bodywork faults sorted.

I saw the silver one and thought it would be a decent breaker with clear lights, sports seat etc. And I was watching the 2.0 to see what it went for as mine will soon be up for sale and I wanted to see what they are fetching so mine can be priced accordingly.

This 1.9 would have worked out a cheap car if you sold the hardtop and fitting kit separately as it went for just under £1300. If you could have got £700 for both items you are left with a decent zed for only £600.

Re: Wanted cheap Z3 facelift

I paid £1250 delivered for the silver one (he's called Okus by the way, well my daughter says it's a she and only breakers are he's...)

The Sport Seats are worth £400 all day long and I would happily have paid that as they're so nice. I'm putting back non-Sport seats worth about £100. £300 net. I found a tonneau cover in the boot I don't want so £100+ there. So already I've effectively only paid £850 for it.

The clear rear lights will be going on the Terd-Mobile. So there's another £150 it's saved me. We're down to £700. And it will end up with the amber headlights off the breaker. The headlights will fetch £200 for the pair (I've almost fixed the Terd-Mobile's broken mounts and they will be useable) so we're down to £500.

We'll say £500 for the replacement engine (to be honest I'm trying for £200-300) and £100 for the amber lights going back in. So we'll have a tidy runner for £1,100 which I shan't feel too bad about robbing nice parts from as it's a non-Sport with Sport options.

Now if I can't get £1,500 for a tidy 02 2.2 with 100k miles I'll be very disappointed. I think prices are dropping now we're half-way through the summer so I'll be done and aiming to move it on March-April next year. Except my daughter has taken a big shine to it. She's not far off her driving test but I think her little C2 I've got lined up might be more appropriate

This looks like a pretty good benchmark for a non-Sport 2.2.

£500-£750 extra for a Sport.

It's a good way of getting parts you need now by buying a breaker or non runner and taking the parts you want off it and then repairing to sell it on. If you get the right deal it works out a much cheaper way of getting the parts, it just means the initial outlay will be more and it may take time to get the money back and if your lucky you may end up with the parts you want for free and even make a profit.

I won the bidding on the 1.9 with hardtop, just arranging collection/payment, I'm wanting the hardtop off it and will move the car on, hopefully end up with the hardtop for free :D

Even if you let the car go for a grand to someone else which would be a steal, you have a hardtop and fitting kit for under £300! Hopefully you will get your money back even if it needs a polish up and a decent advert, good luck.
