HELP With M50 Conversation

Post by ronajem »

Fellow Z enthusiasts, herein lies the problem...ME.

Secured a rare M50 Manifold with throttle body and looking to instal lon my 1997 2.8 Z3.
Looking for a friendly helper to come and help with the install.
Can pay in beers.
I am in the Maidstone region and willing to travel to meet said friendly helper.

Lets not all come running to help at once.

Thank you.

its not a straight forward swap - you need to modify the manifold or get a fitting kit.

Lots of info on this website about the conversion. They also sell all the parts you need.

Hi Alec. M,

I have done a ton of research and looked at the links you have sent.
There is an element of conflicting information out there.
Looking at the fitting kits on sale, there are a number of different ones.
So i am looking for a someone who has the knowledge and experience to assist me.

Hi Rob, I agree with you on that. I ended up with selling my 2.8 and buying a 3.0. Best decision I've made, they're awesome.
Hope you manage to get a successful result.

Thank you Alec.

Will update on progress. I recently got the induction kit from Tim and made the car sound good and rev a little more freely.
looking to release the extra horses with the manifold upgrade and with a bit of work, a remap and stainless steel exhaust.
Hopefully when all is done might be able to keep up with you in your 3.0ltr.

The idea of selling 2.8 and buying a 3.0 is good, but the prices have really shot up recently. Seen some for 10k.
For me, cheaper to upgrade my old lady.

Sounds like a exciting project. I seem to have bought my 3.0 at the right time. Must be the only car I've ever owned that's worth more after 18 months of ownership than I paid for it! Mind you good 2.8s seem to be fetching good money at the moment.
